I remember those people. They were the same ones who kept telling me "if you don't like the rules on this site, make your own."

It's always nice to see the "bug guy" posting, even if in an unofficial capacity.

Regarding Gnorbrin... Despite the many posts made at his expense (my own inclided), I don't think anyone here really believes he's truly evil. He just seems to be over zealous... a tad. I have never been warned, I have never been banned and in general I try my best to "keep the peace" where possible, so my opinion is generated strictly on what I've observed, not personal experience. But when I look at the "effect" these bans/locks are having on the community (regardless of the intent or justification), I can't help but feel that _everyone_ is being driven away.

I realize you came to the thread to address specific issues, so I'll be brief. Consider that the SOE forums are supposed to be here for the community (which includes us). There's a diverse player base, lots of opinions, lots of ego's and for the most part there used to be a fairly wide "grey" area where people could interact... sometimes it was good, sometimes it got ugly but the hammer was only dropped when things looked like they were going to go nuclear. Nowadays, it seems like there is no grey area. No grey area means that meaningful discussion will not take place unless everyone is of like mind (in which case there's not much to discuss).

"I like this!"
"So do I!"
The End!

*shrugs* I'm sure a lot of the people who got banned deserved it. If they poked and prodded a mod, then that's their fault but I can point to more than few threads that were locked (and cite a few players in the past who were banned) for "almost" going overboard. That can be frustrating. "Almost" doing something wrong isn't doing something wrong

At this point... it's almost moot. I fear that the official forums have become and will probably remain a ghost town. Many of the regular contributors are here now and I can't honestly see why they'd go back. But that's my opinion and I'm nobody so take it for what it's worth.

I think gnobrin is mildly illiterate, or at least painfully inarticulate.

And, I've got a few warnings and a ban under my belt. All of them deserved. There's no favoritism going on. Many times people interpret disagreeing with somebody as "trolling" because its beyond them to accept that they might have been wrong in the first place.
Yeah, I'm with Spydie. No ban here, but I have had warnings and posts removed. And if they're nominating for the fanboi awards I'm probably on the list.

In the old days I got like 2 warnings

I wonder if I just posted over there how few days it'd take me to get a warning.

Apparently being an active poster with outspoken views on the direction of the game is considered "trolling" and Gnorbins power drunken ass has no problem throwing out bans for it.

You have been banned.
You may NOT post or place in a signature any material that attacks or insults others on the forums; or engages in name-calling, harassment, or threats. Furthermore, you may not "troll" the forums. "Trolling" is defined as: Posting with the intent of stirring up trouble or to incite disruption. An example of trolling would be posting to a thread without the intent to provide constructive suggestions or comments and instead making disruptive comments. In general, you may post any material written in a courteous and mature manner, providing that it is on-topic for the forum to which you are posting. This includes material that disagrees with the way that we, the developers, operate the game. We will not interfere with the communication of thoughts and ideas as long as the presentation is constructive and appropriate for all those capable of reading the forum.

This was for calling PvP Scouts a bunch of Whiny rich kids that if Mommy and Daddy told them no about 1 thing they would throw a fit. I'm not perma banned after being warned for Flaming Shadows of Storm. Calling Skree a Hacker...which he is...and bumping a thread...Yes You can get a warning for it...

Gnorbin the Nazi can go fuck himself KKTHX!
