Can't believe I agree with Kruhl about something
Anyway,
I got suspended for 3 days recently, by Gnobrin. I'm still not entirely sure why. The only thing I can think of was a little, innocent joke I attempted in the official PvP forums. Some things I noticed about that whole thing was:
1. There was no information given regarding the exact reason I had been banned. Just that it was for "trolling" (wtf?), that I had been warned before and then a link to the Rules of Conduct. He'd also included a nice little warning that said something along the lines that if it happens one more time, I'll be permanently banned.
2. Apparently you
are allowed to ask questions regarding the ban, or issue a complaint... but there is no contact information available. And you can forget about contacting an administrator, because all PM's are blocked if you're banned.
3. If you contact Gnobrin on a later occasion and ask questions regarding the issue, you will be ignored.
4. The rules on the official forums are exceptionally strictly enforced, and anything and everything seems to
always be interpreted in its worst possible sense. Especially if have a history, as in "have been warned before". If you get into a heated discussion with anyone, it will usually end with locked and/or removed threads, as well as bans and suspensions. And we're not even talking about swearing and personal attacks here, because you'll get banned for far more subtle things than that.
I'll just say as the guy before me: Welcome to the club. The official forums are still OK if you're gonna talk about flowers and butterflies, but anything that vaguely resembles a discussion will eventually be shut down. Always. And then they usually kick few people out while they're at it.
In conclusion: Some moderation to make sure nobody gets harassed would have been fine, but they're taking it
much further than that... and it is not very community friendly.
