At least not with the game relying so heavily on the Cpu.

It has got better, back in T5-T6 it was a huge joke. A raid geared person would look the exact same as an lvl10 in full newb island gear. At lest now a high end person gets a few colors while the newb just stays with shades of brown.

I agree. After all, T8 fabled plate should look like hot pink short-shorts and rhinestoned halter tops, not that tacky metal garbage they give us.
And where are our sky-scraper shoulder guards and air-craft carrier sized weapons?
Oh, before I forget, WoW is waiting for you.

Re: Want to get into EQ2
Gods, if you are looking for ugly models, try the Vanguard High Elves. Talk about "skeletal"-there you are. I made a high-elf psionicist (with teh red hair, of course), and man, I could barely stand to look at him. I mean geez, aren't elves supposed to be the "fair folk", not the "are you really still alive" folk?

Re: Want to get into EQ2
The big mistake Vanguard (read Brad McQuade) made regarding characters was that they only had 1 skeletal model and sacrificed race individuality.
What I heard EQ2 art devs were doing was making atleast 4 different skeletal models. It would still be faster doing 4 different models then... 32 (and then some) models.
I think they're going for a happy medium between current EQ2 and Vanguard, but with much MUCH better looking character models (which btw, has very little to do with character appearance).
P.S.: I have no idea what Vanguard art devs were doing all this time with their character models. 4ish years in the making and they still looked horrid as hell.

Show me a game with better character models than EQ2.

The plate designs are actually good, too bad they're the only ones.
As for fruity colors and rhinestones... I've seen so much chain for my scout in various shades of hot pink and teal I wanna puke.
And shut the fuck up about WoW already. Nobody is saying they want that Disney cartoon style. But SoE is lazy as hell when it comes to armor design and everyone knows it - including them. Appearance slots anyone?
