That being said, hopefully it will be implemented well and be an actually functional, useful feature that doesn't cause too much lag.

the SKank .... this human turd log's into vent and suddenly it's 1-900-useless-hoe ..... it's all about her fantasy sex life. when normal crap gets old she will play the lesbian card. she usualy gets a following of 2 or 3 chumps in vent that fuel her fire

E-Stalker ... this person Falls in love with your vioce and what you say in vent ,, and suddenly wants to be your Conjioned twin, they send you tells befor your even fully logged into game, they want to do everything with you ,,and will wash your skiddy underwear if you ask em to

Tela-Rep ... person who works on the phone all day and just wants to log into eq2 and relax ,... crank up some music .. and forget about people for a while... the last thing they want to do is put a headset back on

the Knower ... this person has beaten eq2 23 times .. they know everything (altho they have already gotton the group wiped 3 times in 1/2 hour)

Runtalker ... this person just loves talking.. endlessly .. about whatever... can talk 24-7 non stop ..you can try to complete a sentance ,,,but chances are everyone else took there headset off 20 minutes ago and can still here them chatting away endlessy

Sexist... hears a female vioce and instantly assumes this person Sucks with there class becuase they aren't a dude. case in point a friend that had 5 lvl 70 alt's,leader of a guild, and is a good tank joined a group,, and as soon as the leader of group heard she was a girl sais" o well ill tank then since your a girl " ... not a wimp friend said" and WHAt exactly does that mean?" .... he said " everyone knows Girls dont know how to play ,,they just get levels becuase all the guys group them" needless to say she told him where to stick it and left group...

so many more reasons why people might not wanna log into vent... babies are crying.. talking with wife/spouse/family.... on the phone... have a splitting headache...etc.... but people shouldn't have to give reasons why they dont wanna join vent,,,

if someone says "No thanks" then that should be the end of it , in this thread alone you have someone (being sarcastic i know ;) talking about certain accents... and others complaining about people that would use vioce changing programs to sound like something else then there true voice.....

Voice chat is yet just another way for Judgemental people to make calls about people based on how they talk, or the way they sound, when a week earlier they thought that Player X was a Skilled player,,, after hearing them in vent they suddenly have a totaly diffrent opinion about that player purely based on what the person sounds like or talks about...

Vent = 10X more drama.

plenty of personal experiances in groups with vent to understand why some people dislike it... and if vioce chat in games is giong to be the Standerd.. then i see more players soloing.. and canceling there acounts ... unless barating someone openly in chat for not logging into the VIoce chat was a banable offense but i dont see that happening

if someone says " NO " that should be the end of it...they shouldn't have to Explain themselves if they don't give a reason. and shouldn't be asked numerous times to join.and made to feel bad about not joining

anyway thats my 2 cents on some of the reasons . feel free to give more examples and reasons why people would aviod vent

YAY yet another feature that's been in other games for a while. SoE is slow on the uptake I'm looking forward to it though b/c not everyone uses the same chat program this will maybe eliminate that. But ugh, I can't just imagine getting plat spam vmails that will piss me the fuck off.

I have vent installed. I log into the servers of the guilds I group with. I don't need anything else. It might be fun to mess around with, but I (at this time) don't see it become something I have turned on much beyond the first week.

Of course they'll hand the operations of this over to the SoE webteam because they're the ones that do the standard infra between all their games (Read: EQ2Players) ... so it'll never work and you'll get to hear every 3rd word two days after its spoken.

From what I can tell, Vivox runs the voice chat infrastructure and not the games they license it to. If they do everything their product sheet says then it will kick ass.

Definitely far more features there than Ventrilo or Skype offer, and frankly I hope Ventrilo curls up and dies from their asstastic licensing model. Got a lot of friends on WoW that have been IM'ing me saying they hope WoW gets something half as good as this looks sometime.
