Someone to take the lead on setting client expectations. Even if that means spin doctoring its a start. Right now they have random devs making random statements of varying quality to the community. Or Gnorbin.

I was going to say just find the guy who did some work in Quake series cause those games were solid as fuck in tons of aspects (it was my 7 year addiction before EQ2...). But then I read illumis link...

he returned to the game industry in the mid-1990s to work on Quake for id Software. Some of the technology behind Quake is documented in Abrash's Graphics Programming Black Book. After Quake was released, Abrash returned to Microsoft to work on natural language research

Well, getting into the finer points of C++ can get pretty complex. I can see that four years of nothing but Java wouldn't cut it. You haven't learned memory management, for one thing. You probably haven't focused so hard on performance, either. I'm not knocking Java, Java is a different world, that's all.

There might be other experience that would be equivalent to four years of C++, but I can't think what it is right now.

And by the way, yes, I am a professional game programmer, among other things.
