Default Re: Lag

Just some more lag input

My computer / internet connection should be able to play this game no problem and have never had real lag problems in the past.
My server ping generally hovers at about 41

So lately I will be in a group or raid and cast a spell right before it finishes casting there is a slight lag. This KILLS my dps and is driving me crazy, I can't reproduce it all the time but its definatly got something to do with the server and the latest changes. Until a few gu's ago I could run the game on extreme graphics without any problems even in a raid now this lag hits me no matter what setting i am on and it is becoming a huge problem.

The lag is pretty steady over the raid setting, yesterday when we killed the new domini in KP we were pretty much locked up solid from pull to death, 4-6 second spell lag etc etc. The KJ one was broked and extremely laggy as well, but the 9 million zone wide messeges ddidnt help im sure. Today Overking and VP were like figthing brownies/gardner pre EoF lag fix, it was terrible and makes me wonder why i still play. Again the lag is deffintly server side and seems to be up and down from half a second to 5 second spell lag, its pretty brutal on najena atm.

So -- what did SOE change to fuck up the servers?

Nagafen has crashed two nights in a row now. Can't get much worse than that.

How can you fuck up lag so much with a GU that was 90% crafting oriented? =p

Seriously, lag is awful. Yesterday we got dropped from instances and right click makes me feel humble with the awful dely. It's not an exageration to say that the game like this isn't enjoyable at all.

Lagometer wasn't showing anything unusual for me either in VP tonight (last night?). I'd get horrble FPS in the usual memory leak areas like Elder Ekron's pit, but that's to be expected. (Server-side lag + memory leak = the humiliation of wiping on a gimpy mob. Hard to heal when you can't see or cast in realtime. Grrr.)

Only consistent things I noticed were a) adds spawning = lots more lag and b) completing an HO with a group-wide effect would cause a bad spike in the lag.

These are the results some the larger Lag spikes I have experienced with regards to CPU performance.

I find it rather strange that the CPU usage is dropping to zero during these 5 second lock ups.

I asked that myself like 100 times last night in VP. Serisoly, this shit makes me want to quit playing this pos game. Bad itemizationg and crap raid zones together couldn't piss me off as much as a fucking lag.

There also seems to be a consistent 10+ second chat lag on Nagafen during prime time. The server has crashed the last two nights while we were raiding, and it seems related to the length of the chat lag.

on Mistmoore we've had some pretty bad "lag" the last couple nights. another guild zoned into venril sathir's lair while we were inside and fighting, and we ended up getting 3 or 4 spikes of server side lag that lasted 5-10 seconds each.

additionally, there's been a general feeling of things running slow in combat. time from click to actually starting casting is up to a second of delay. i can't tell if it's server side or client side, but things just aren't as smooth as they have been in the past. this has happened in venril sathir's lair, chamber of destiny, and veeshan's peak.

i'd also like to note that i monitored my bps on the connectivity window and it was spiking up over 15K (up to 28K) intermittently and then dropping back down to normal values during combat. occasionally, some packet loss was sneaking in as well (up to -30). this would also hit as one big spike, and then disappear until the next spike.
