Im aware this topic has been discussed before, but I have not really found an answer I could use anywhere.

Thing is, I've got 4 characters(illusionist, necromancer, assassin and wizard), and I cant decide which one to play. What I care about is dps, I wont to top the parse, be it an instance run or a raid.

Lately I have been thinking assassin or wizard, assassin probably, due to the caster nerf(which apparently turns out to be not very bad). But then I found illusionists talking about 6k+ parses, and necromancers doing the same, while assassins mention much lower numbers.

Anyway, im probably what you'd call a min/maxer, so it matters a great deal to me.

Until a change in melee hit rate, Wizards are #1 dps overall. With a change in melee hit rates, Wizards, Assassins, and Rangers will be tied for #1.

Is that consistant? I mean... that wizards are #1 on dps or hit rates? Maybe I don't understand... hope I am not making this a more difficult post :-|

betray the wizard to a warlock, Then you can be the highest dps!

wizard, although IMO an assassin might be more interesting to play from a technical standpoint due to positioning, etc. but yeah wizard is the no brainer dps win.

although I would be very careful about extrapolating what you could do as a class vs. what posters like Pinski, Slippery etc can do.

meaning al kabor robe, mythical epic, dark orb of mind, etc
