Re: Where did it begin?
ROK. Been saying it since the beginning. For so long, people didn't believe me... but now we know...
lol.
Seriously though. EOF was downhill from KOS (in my opinion, KOS was the best expansion, second best being DOF), but it was nowhere near the utter shit that ROK is. Not even close. ROK sucks in so many ways it's nigh unbelievable. And things are only getting worse, unless you're a roleplayer who doesn't actually... play the game.

Re: Where did it begin?
My biggest issue with this game was always that its never settling down.
I started in beta and though "oh cool, this is a nice game. I bet it will be awesome once they get everything in order and stop changing stuff on a daily basis". then things were tugging along but never really dropped that beta feel, things were constantly changing. Every week there was some drastic overhaul.
The same thing continued all the way until Lu13 which was the first sign of the fact that they are never gonna get things right, they will keep changing stuff until this game dies.
And at the end of KoS when our old guild stopped functioning i simply thought: "why the heck should i put up with this? One day my class is a healer the next day hes a melee buff bot" (I was playing an inquisitor at the time).
So the short version is: since beta, i just kept hoping it would end some time.

Re: Where did it begin?
LU13 certainly pissed me off, and retired a few characters.
Fundamental mechanics being broken, like stealth and invis. With no communication from developers. Added to the straw.
But the one thing that made me cancel my account was the shabby way all the players were treated when SOE cheated with accounts on Unrest, and then denied they'd even done anything wrong.
No matter who you are, or what playstyle you choose, you'll never be respected by SOE. They just want your money and they'll laugh behind your back as they take it and give favors to their "friends".
That kind of attitude is what makes me stop giving them my money.

I don't know how many LU's I missed, but SK's at one time weren't completely useless. Awesome? Meh, close enough.

Re: Where did it begin?
I left the game after LU13, went to that other game, and found myself back here just after a 2month absence.
Ever since LU13 I have looked for something to replace EQ2, but still find myself coming back, because everything else really sux more.
Hopefully either Age of Conan or 38studios(kurt Schilling,RA Salvatore, Tod Mcfarlane project) will smack some fuckin sense into SOEs head about community relations. Warhammer looks like shit imo.
But until something truely immerses me more then EQ2 I am here to stay.

Re: Where did it begin?
I still Like SKs for grouping. Don't care what yall say, they can take a punch.
Its gunna be AoC for me. Pixelated titties. I think thats what I've always been looking for in an MMO. Gawd I hope it doesn't suck. But that 38 studios thing sounds interesting just because RA Salvatore and Todd Mcfarlane are involved. Will have to check it out.

Re: Where did it begin?
Cryptic words about Curt Schilling’s Copernicus » VentureBeat
There are really only 2 important things in that article.
1. Its codename is copernicus (so we'll recognize it when we hear about it in the future)
and
2. The current release date is sometime in 2010. So, umm looks like all my eggs are still in Age of Conan's basket.
BTW Tyirul, I felt like we shoulda been gathered around a campfire for your original post. "Come children, come and we will tell the story of the before-time". Interesting stuff.
