I don't think SoE has that money specifically ear-marked for botters to steal. So hiring someone to test content will not prevent the botters from reaping their ill-gotten gains. So the logic (or wording) seems flawed.
Don't get me wrong, this idea seems like a no-brainer, really. I'm not sure if this kind of testing is industry standard or not, but it seems as though there needs to be some sort of accountability for leaked strats and the threat of a lost paycheque is probably the most effective way to impress accountability on someone. I'm sure that there will be internal repercussions if, after this is all said and done, its been proven that information was given out against company policy, but it is the external testers that also need to be reined in.
As has been stated time and time again in this thread, the bottom line for any corporation is money. Is there any value-added benefit for SoE to do this? Will it, in the long run, make their product sell better, cost less to maintain, etc...?

Re: Why I did this and how we can reach a compromise.
This whole situation just makes me glad I already canceled my two accounts months ago. I'd seriously considered reactivating, if for no other reason than to see old friends again, but having had plenty of the we-don't-care attitude from SOE in the past, I really don't care for more of the same. At this point, it seems to me that all SOE cares about is allowing plat-selling and botting as long as it's generating enough revenue, and dumbing down the game enough so that Joe Casual who plays an hour or two a week is happy, since that requires the least amount of development and testing on SOE's end. It will surprise me not at all if at some point SOE phases raiding out of the game altogether, claiming there's no longer enough of a playerbase to support that aspect of the game or some such bullshit.
It really, really, really sucks that EQ2 is owned and managed by SOE, because the game itself has so much potential and imo is so much better than WoW, yet it's being held back by SOE because all they see are dollar signs.

I wouldn't be surprised if this happened eventually. When people say that raiders are whiners and dicks.. what people don't consider is that raiders actually do go through the rest of the content in this game. They go through it fast and hardcore so that they can concentrate on the raiding aspect and get those WW firsts (that don't matter anymore.)
People skilled enough to get thru a Maidens group in under 30m with 1 healer or likewise Get to the bottom of Sebilis or Chardok.. to assist people with updates (for gear that doesn't matter anymore).
These kind of people don't ignore the rest of the server community by and large... these people will take people who are /lfg thru these super groups who might be impressed at that and learn a thing or two they didn't know before. Or maybe the general consensus that "X class sux because of whatever stupid uninformed reason" will be wiped away when people who do raid and go through non-raid group content with a group of skilled players.
The fact that there is raid content to strive to get better at your class or get better at working together to be able to accomplish is a goal that raider types have. The really vocal and knowledgeable spread tips and tricks and how-tos here on this site. SOE would be effectively taking away those goals and helpful people and you'll be left with at really boring game with every class able to solo their way thru all the lame content.

yes you are right, but that won't happen, because if you think about it, you just suggested outsourcing the (eq2) customer relationship department, and i wouldn't be surprised if gnorbin (or whoever the fucktard in charge is) acted in fear of you trying to topple him over.

Actually, we're people skilled enough to go in with just mages and scouts and clear MC.

Pfft. That's work. I'd rather go in with a mezzer and a healer, and be done in 20-30 minutes.

Bah, maiden's is a joke. I fully cleared maiden's with myself, a fury, and a swash. Oh and this was about two weeks after RoK was released...

Yah, because having a tank and a healer makes everything a joke. Try without a healer and tank on that triple-skeleton encounter. Now that's difficulty.
