Of course it's going to disappoint. The first 50 levels you have to grind by pushing a big wheel in a circle to gain XP.

Wish it was only that, which isn't that bad for me, something new at least. The main problem is that they made the Necro a sissy, add to that the fact that the zones are even MORE linear than EQ2 (which i have never had any problems with by the way). The mobs are all over the roads, while deep in the zone there're nearly no mobs.
Man, i had such high hopes for that game, shame the devs are killing it before it's even released .
Can't find any other game on the market though to play this summer, either they're too old (WoW), or end-game sucks (Tabula Rasa, CoH/CoV), or they're awesome as a whole but the devs are destroying them (Vanguard).

SOE's schizophrenia is to blame imo.
I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with you but I would point out that Harclaves was nerfed into uselessness because they wanted to "promote grouping".
I clearly remember Moorguard posting that he was in a group and someone left (gasp) to go do Harclaves, so of course it was nerfed with a stupidly long reuse timer (once per level iirc) so that others wouldn't leave poor Moorguards groups again.
SOE has no clue what they are doing, they do things to fuck with the players, they are The Sand Kings!

Re: I cancelled my account, and here's why
I would just like to say that I was pretty close to pushing the button to cancel both my accounts. I started playing WoW until AoC comes out, but then I logged back into EQII yesterday and I was amazed at the graphics all over again. No matter what issues the game may have with lag in raid zones, itemization, and what ever else, the graphics in this game rock compared to any other MMO I have tried, especially WoW. I ended up playing EQ2 for almost 8 hours straight yesterday. Wife was gone for the day and I had nothing else going on.
I am going to stick with EQII and when AoC comes out I will probably give it a fair shot. It looks like it will be a cool game, but if the graphics aren't even close to EQII, I probably will not do it.
Also EQII just seems to have a lot more depth to the game. It is a fully functional world that pretty much covers all aspects of life except maybe sex, nudity, and going to the bathroom.
Just wanted to point out though, my 7 year old has been watching me play some and he thinks WoW's graphics are better.

Re: I cancelled my account, and here's why
Interesting that someone between 70-80 thinks EQ2 is good.. That's surprising seeing as you're in the middle of the most depressing solo questing grind imaginable.
The thing which confuses me about this game is, wtf do non-raiders DO? 3 (4 if you're a sadist, 5 if you're fucking crazy) boring, easy instances to grind once per day, and you'll have the best items from these zones before too long.
Raiding might be a bit poo atm - but NOT raiding looks way way worse.

Re: I cancelled my account, and here's why
couldnt agree more meta theres a new post up about the calbare of raid players now and how some guy has pigeon holed them into tiers ie t1 button mashers t2 are ok bit above button mashers and so on pretty pointless post if you ask me tbh but hey if it floats his boat and hes got to much time on his hands he has to write a book on raiding so be it
but your right after 80 its raids thats it nothing else to do now with that said is any one surprised you get button bashers botted toons etc going for raid guilds ?
what else is there for them to do ? no one in there right mind going to grind 7 chrs to 80 and leave it at that but soe dont care they not putting any effort into the game any more imo
you got people being hacked whats soe do nothing
people moaning about to much solo in rok soe nothing
another instance or 2 in game soe nothing
no wounder every ones quitting

See I think part it is all about why you play this game. In the case of Raiders, for the most part, it is all about the game. It is about reaching the end game content first, being the first to beat it and also being the first to get the uber loot. For a person like me it isn't about that, it is about the immersion. I love this game becuase I only read fantasy novels like the Belgariad, Lord of the Rings, Dragonlance, and many more along the same lines. I enjoy the epic books that immerse you into the world and make you part of it. That is what this game does for me. Since I started playing EQII I haven't been reading any books. It created a similar world like I like to read about that I can actually play a character in.
There was a point in my gameplay that I was raiding, or maybe I should say I was trying to raid. I just didn't have the time to commit to be a successful raider. So I understand the challenges that raiders are facing. Well I lost track of why I originally started playing EQII when I was trying to raid. I was spending all my play time trying to raid instead of playing the aspect of EQII that originally drew me in. When I was about to quit, I started reading again and re-discovered what originally drew me to EQII.
Bottom line, it is all about why you play EQII. I can fully appreciate why raiders are very frustrated right now. I also understand why some people are leaving. If it is about the game and being better than the next guy or gal, then there is definitly a reason to be upset with the way things are going. However, if you are someone that enjoys the graphics, the depth in which the Norrathian world has been created and grouping with friends or working on solo quests when playing on limited time then things are going quite well.
Oh, and as far as my level 73 toon. I haven't played him in months except for some crafting. He was my main before Kunark came out and he was the one I burned out on. I am now having a blast playing other toons. I now have multiple toons all ranging from level 17 to 57 not including my level 73. At some point I will get back to him and get him leveled, I just don't feel like playing him right now. It has absolutely nothing to do with the quests in RoK. I love the quest lines and how they draw you in and they just move you from zone to zone. Which is probably why I have moved all my toons to Timorous Deep and leveled all my new toons there. I just like how everything flows. Unlike the original noob zones, I don't think I can ever get sick of this one.
