Subscription cancelled, Game Over.
A lot of people on this thread have pretty much summed up my feelings about the current EQ2. I was already thinking of quitting because of
Ruins of Kunark, an expansion that many see to be EQ2's final nail in the coffin after a long line of changes that have effectively dumbed down the game. And added to that, the death of grouping in RoK; FFS about half a dozen T8 groups/instances compared to the 15-20 in T7. Ah not to worry though, in place of grouping we get handed dozens of mind-numbingly boring solo quests that can be done while half asleep. How is that fun? Well for some it might be but for me it is worse than shit.
I'm now totally convinced that this game's best days are behind it.
I started playing this game because I enjoy socialising with others, chatting, grouping, having a laugh and being part of an online community that exists outside of the game (hence why I wrote so many articles for EQ2i). When I first started, the actual process of grouping was fun (scarecrows in Antonica and Giants/Griffons in TS anyone?) For me, it wasn't about rushing like crazy to get to the top level, it was about learning how to play my class the best I could
with other people; that's why I rolled healers. Fast forward back to EQ2 post-Rok...Solo questing my templar from 70 to 80 in RoK was about as much fun as taking a cheese grater to my dick; totally boring and depressing and not at all like the EQ2 social experience I once enjoyed.
And the total arrogance and contempt that Fireflyte showed towards plate/chain healers is yet another example of SoE's general disgusting attitude. Want quest rewards? No problem so long as you don't mind running round in fucking leather. Fuck you Fireflyte
If I want to play a solo rpg, I play Oblivion, which handles solo so much better and doesn't cost me a monthly subscription fee. I am sorry but EQ2 just does not cut the mustard anymore.
SoE - you are a bunch of fucking morons.
