I cancelled today. Think im pretty much done with EQ. Game is getting damn boring, nobody logs in anymore. TSO was fun for a while but I can't do this shit anymore.

Tried eq2 for a couple of months. Worked on a paladin, then a templar. Played WoW for a couple of years (3 level 80s), and EQ a couple of years ago (a single level 50).
Pros:
Mature player base
Tons of content
Achievement system allowed for meaningful character customization.

Cons:
Have to rely on the internet because quests descriptions are bad-->too much out-of-date information on the internet
On many days, I wouldn't even see another player
Felt like I spent 80% or more of my time running around and picking stuff up
Tradeskilling got really grindy starting at about level 30.
Even on the low-level quests, I felt like I was too ignorant about the game's lore to understand why I was completing the quests. Timorous Deep was ok, but Antonica was just bad. I'm not a roleplayer at all, but I still want to be engaged in the game, not just running around clicking at random, hoping to find interactive objects.

I'm glad I tried eq2 out, even though it didn't suit me. It's funny how the next WoW looks to be copying many of the better features-guild leveling, archeology (dieties), etc. I might try that again, not sure. Didn't finalize my decision to quit eq2 until I saw this thread and saw I wasn't the only person with some of these complaints.
