Re: Community Summits... now a joke...
The title for this thread pretty much sums it up.
These summits are nothing more than a PR circle jerk.
For the longest time I have felt SOE staff were hopeless and clueless bumbling idiots, just tossing out enough content (buggy and incomplete) to generally placate the addicts and keep the money flowing in.
I don't now nor have I ever really felt like SOE has been very concerned about their playerbase. We pay them, and are their customers, but they don't really treat us like customers or clients are treated in any other business.
The closest I have come to ever feeling like they gave a shit was when they stepped outside of their SOE pretentious fanboi PR circle jerk box and got in the trenches with the real players.
I respected the fact that they were open-minded enough to realize that those that play the game are REAL people and we fuckin curse and come direct when we have a problem. Sometimes you just have to cut through the bullshit and lay it out there.
I also respected the fact that some at SOE were not only willing to dive into the trenches with us and interact for the betterment of the game, they were man enough to eat shit on occasion and realize we are just passionate people that are fed up.
Now SOE has recently closed the door on one of the few things they have done right. Big mistake. It also seems to extend to Summits.
As I said before, the Summits are more than ever a big PR circle jerk. It seems to me that the majority of those that attend won't truly get anything done or be catalysts for change until someone slaps SOE's dick out of their pretentious self-important mouths and we start to see REAL people and voices of dissent.
The only way to change a system is to question it, not jerk it off and let it's juices dribble down your chin.
If you can't say, "What the fuck were you THINKING when you released that subpar shit!?" over a beer, when can you?
Until SOE starts inviting an equal amount of self-righteous assholes to balance out the self-important pretentious cock-smokers, Community Summits should be renamed Community PR Circle-Jerk.
