This is a sensible move, and not surprising in the least. It really made no sense to have SOE under Sony Pictures, while the rest of their gaming segment was under SCEI.

It details the concerns for Sony's lack of vision in realtion to social gaming. While an MMO isnt officially under that heading (think Wii), you don't get much more social than an MMO.

as an aside, this sucks for Mr. Hirai- he just get promoted then they anounce they are moving another division with issue under his control as well.

While i would say something positive about PS3 and how i loved EQOA, SOE killed that game from the start. They never advertised the game at all. If they do make a EQOA for the PS3, i would play it. EQOA actually had more things going for it than EQ2. The only issues I can really say sucked was the ram limit of the PS2 so raids were a lag fest and most things were invisible.

This wont likely change SOE much save the fact that in competence like we have seen recently may be dealt with more harshly by Kaz Harai. Then again, arrogance to consumer needs/demands is a playstation trademark. Look at the PS3 debacle for clarity on that.

Um please go look up the eqoa commercial, you will laugh your ass off. I think they tried to advertise, then they realized they pretty much suck at everything and stopped.

QFT. the tv commercial was a bunch of "cool" looking people calling each other to kill a dragon, and some of the print ads had hot chicks in bars or something :P
