I think you oughta read through this thread to educate yourself somewhat.

Before having your account restored by SoE you should be ensuring that your pc is infection free, so running a reliable virus/adware scanner is step 1. A screenshot of the results of said scan would be a good place to start, evidence wise.

If you regain access to your account without removing whatever malicious software is hiding on your PC you will be back to square one pretty damn quickly, as evidenced by my less that computer savvy guildmate who had his account taken over again within about 24hrs or getting access to it through soe.

Well now thats more info then anyone has bothered to post here. The fact that he got rehacked within 24 hours makes the case for a keylogger or virus. Have him run the free Webroot scan, if it reveals a virus or keylogger and he posts a screenshot here, I'll give him a year subscription for free.

I instructed him to do so already....but he's been MIA from Ventrilo. I suspect he is just really super pissed off at the moment. But hopefully he'll come around today and I'll get a little bit of solid info.

Another point to add is that whatever the source of this problem, he would have had to acquire it at least a month prior to his account actually being compromised. His account was hijacked while he had been out of town for about a month, his PC was left alone and unused during that time.

i know full well those people havent got key loggers on there pc as mulitple virus and what ever been ran no ones given passwords away

so im guessing sony been comprimised

I think the issue here is that your posts are completely unconstructive. You have provided zero useful information regarding what is going on here.

I'm assuming it wasn't your account that was compromised and are just getting second hand information (like I am).

However, have you bothered to ask the right questions of the people you know who have been compromised?

What virus scan are they using?
Is it up to date?
Screen shots of a complete system scan?

like i said its other people i know not me so as i said before im going on what i been told

i know they are using nod 32 and comod fire walls and avg up to date

system was showing no virus /trojans etc

but if they want to put screen shots up thats up to them im just asking for advise on what to do

now if you really think some1s got a key logger on just for eq2 then up to u personaly if i was a key logger i go for your personal details bank accoutnts etc not some game info

i can only assume it has to be sony end thats a big jump i know but all that info is stored on sonys sites not your pc so once they got your username which never changes im assuming they brute force your pw and so on

now this point im worried about once they get in change your passwords etc they strip you naked etc isnt there any way soe can detect that ip if it happens a few times say

i like constructive ways please so we can help each other not just flames about same old no proof cant be true and all that

With people spoofing MAC's and IP's this would be very difficult.

the average person wont find all the viruses on the box, why? because some of the viruses will be variants of known viruses that are changed just enuff to get past current definitions. I have NEVER seen any antivirus that finds everything all of the time, it doesnt exist. bottom line is unless you are familiar with removing malware, its probably still there despite the AVG scanner saying its clean (i use AVG often when cleaning machines but it is not perfect and often leaves some malware behind) also, if you get a good rootkit on yer box, the av software most likely isnt going to find it anyway, you need a rootkit detection tool and from what i have read, most of them suck.
