nope, i maintain anything that makes you pay to clean the machine is fucking bullshit. even if it does a good job of cleaning after you pay for it, the emphasis should be on getting rid of viruses, not just cash. there are LOTS of respected av vendors with lots of free tools. trend, grisoft, mcafee, symantec, sophos, etc. like them or hate them, they are the leaders in the industry and they have lots of free tools you can use to clean an infected pc

again, there is no magic antivirus that always finds everything. if you only run webroot on infected machines i promise you you gave a customer back an infected machine at least once. ive worked in everything from home support to multi billion dollar international corporations and i have never seen the flawless antivirus you seem to think exists. in the end, all you can hope for is to catch most of them with one program. if you have a home network to protect, the sophos price base offering for 3 licenses is worth looking at, but i wouldnt say its that much better than the free AVG solution.

Since you mentioned Norton and McAfee, hopefully everyone here will know you have no fucking clue what the fuck you are talking about. Those 2 companies alone are what keeps me in fucking business because of the shit job they do.

lets not bullshit each other. most of the problems with mcafee and symantec are due to people assuming they were actively updating when in fact they didnt have a subscription and the trial that came with the pc ended. beyond that, they do an ok job. better than some, worse than others. I HATE symantec with a passion but i have to admit it seems to do an ok job on our network, i do periodically scan boxes with other scanners, portscan them, and run nessus and shit like that to check up on things and aside from some existing infections when i started 2 years ago, its done what i expected it to do even if the enterprise manaer blows goats

THERE IS NO MAGIC PILL. i have actually bothered to do my own testing with lots of different antiviruses in lots of orders and guess what, there wasnt a single one that found every virus. not avg, not sophos, not panda, not mcafee, not symantec, not avast, not anything, none of them. same for spyware, not a single program found everything and at times a program will find a virus but still cant remove it. hell i had sophos telling me a file was suspicious but didnt offer to clean or quarantine it when it was clearly a virus. sophos support still cant explain that one. in the end all you can do is hope it finds most of them and accept that sometimes it wont. if i have to accept that risk, why the fuck would i want to pay for it? avg does well enough free. and there are free spyware solutions as well. buy what you want, but i still say an antivirus program that shows you shit b ut wont clean it til you pay is bullshit, its the same tactic the fucking fake spyware cleaners use and is gay as fuck

Out of 100 customers infected with a virus currently using Norton or McAfee to protect them, fully updated and active, 1% of them fit into your scenario. Thats from actual experience. I deal with it EVERY DAY. I don't sit and do IT support for the same company, I go all over the place to homes and businesses encountering 1,000's of different scenarios. Once again, those 2 PIECE OF SHIT companies keep me employed well beyond my wildest dreams.

This is why I don't fly planes or comment on how people fly planes. Thats not my job, I'm a clueless fuck when it comes to them. Your comments on here already have you piloting a flight from NY to Asia.

Im telling you, as independent and enterprise security people have told me, guys with cisco level security certs, guys who do network and desktop security for a living and i dont mean go to peoples houses on service calls, have repeatdly told me and my own experience confirms, the choice of antivirus in the long run doesnt matter, its a managed risk that is going to eventually fail. you just need ot find one with an interface and console you like and stick with that. now you keep going to the nice peoples houses and selling them whatever like your shift manager tells you too and while yer at it go get yer fucking shine box

we know that from my post alone theres been 100s of comprimised accounts over the last 2 weeks

that every anti virus program that any one sujested hasnt picke up a single thing

no one has amitted to running a 3rd party program like a crafting bot

and no passwords have been given out and no ones logging on to diffrent pcs than normal

if all this is true it looks like it leads to soe imo

now heres a question for you guys has any one else downloaded anything with out you knowing not in a nasty way for example a kid playing a java game or something may be theres a 3rd website that every ones gone to that might have contacts with soe

thats reaching guys im not suggesting any one has put try to eliminate every possablity and it has to lead to one source soe

if i am right all your passwords are stored on their servers you got nothing on yours which means you have to have a key logger on your pc is that right?

now if you got a key logger on your pc why are they not going for your credit card details that must be worth more than some virtual chr in a game i would of thought

and as i said before for me to change my password i have to put secret question in how do they get this ? i copy and paste that from a file on my pc this has only been changed once my friends pc was hacked i know he done the same as me copy and paste and still they changed his passwords

Because you logged into xxxxx so many times after your account was hacked, I was unable to simply roll him back; I spent 5 hours going through each line of code tracking down all the items removed from him and restoring them by hand. As for why it took us so long to get to your account, there were several hundred comprmised accounts. We get to them in the order they are received and go as fast as we can. I put in 12 hours of overtime working on hacked accounts last week. It is not for lack of effort that it takes so long, merely the fact that it's a complicated process

soe responce after a week my mates not been able to play his account
so thanks to soe he has to re petion to get his account back in order again thanks to some 1 hacking him

so 1 week later hes got no 2nd account 1st account been total screwed up and a gm saying he spend x amount off over time on it

the guy gets paid ffs its his job we pay them so we dont excpet to not to play through other people hacking

Not locking the account while they are messing with it was a mistake..
But logging in an moving items around in equipment/bag slots where lost items were was plain stupid.
Also, if you read carefully, the GM said that it's not impossible to do it.

he never even knew they were looking into it soe never got back for 3 days nothing no emails in game tells nothing so im guessing he thought sod it i play a lowbie or something

the main chrs on the account are royally screwed up they got 3x all there kit ie 3 soul fires 3 sets of kit 3 sets of house items

yes its nice to run round with 2 mytical items (if only) but its against there rules and they role the chr back again

thats what that gm done to that account to top it off they havent even touch the second account thats been naked now for over a week so we are at a loss what they are doing now

hes jacked the game in now any ways hes been messed about by soe for 3 weeks now and its got him no where only to find he has to prob wait another week before he gets his stuff back making a month so why pay for 2 accounts if you cant play them when you done nothing wrong
