Re: Why all the hate? A little perspecitve.
I think both sides have valid points- all of the games have their problems. You either decide to quit or to lump it. And you bitch the whole way. Why? Because you *have* wasted hours, hoping that it would get better, and it doesn't. Then you find out that community management means giving you condescending answers, then banning you when you call them on the fact that they can't draft a decent customer service e-mail.
The biggest difference between the two games is the level of support and information that Blizzard gives to the Community. EQ2 has more depth, but I can definitely tell as someone in the middle levels that quality goes down hill the more you level. WoW has less content, but the quality is a lot better, and Blizzard is a lot more open to talking about things (or at least letting the threads fly in the OF). Less in one area, more in the other. And we're just supposed to accept it or quit? Nah... bitching is better, because they deserve for someone to tell them what kind of fuckwads they are, rather than just letting them sit in their crystal palaces because of all the asshats that will quietly play nicely or just quit when something is wrong instead of trying to get them to change it.
(On that note- I did like the 'lock protests in Shatt. Very nice and to the point...)

There really is no escape of it.
I recognized that I would probably complain later, and I recognize that the same bugs and problems are present here.
My main point was, to see a bunch of people quit and say how they are gonna play wow cause its better, its not, its the same shit.
I applaud you for changing games, and trying something new. Its exactly what I am doing.
I just dont get the outward hatred and drama on this forum, all this stuff about developers and whatnot, I just dont get it. You act as if other games are different and this game is so corrupt and awful.
It is the lesser of evils, best of the worst, etc.

But that's where you fail because you simply don't understand the whole meaning of this site. You really think that people who write those /ragequit posts are really going to influence anyone here to do the exact same thing? Nope. It really is never a cry for "who's comin' with me??" because the majority of the people here don't really give a fuck if you leave. I can only think of about 3 players that left the game and I was kinda bummed about. But what's silly is that a lot of players come back to the game eventually. The whole point of what you refer to as "hate" posts are nothing more than a way to vent the anger they feel for whatever wrong they feel had been delt to them. The reason why you see it here and not on the official forums is because they delete any negativity over there while you are actually allowed to say what you feel here with very light mod.
So seriously, just stop because you have no fucking clue.

Re: Why all the hate? A little perspecitve.
Some are going to wow, yes, but I bet a bunch are waiting for Warhammer and Age of Conan.
Yeah the summary of problems in RoK are:
1) Itemization (solo/heroic stuff being better than much of the raid stuff)
2) Buggy/dumb raid encounters (nothing new, but much worse in this expansion)
3) Raid progression difficulty not smooth.
Some of #3 was addressed, but broken in other ways. With RoK they have forced progression now, and it hasn't been there much in the past with EQ2. Just a few things here and there.
Now, we have 10+ bosses in the final raid zone VP, and the 2nd boss is arguably the hardest, and none of the gear from anything below them will help. Not all VP loot sucks, but yes, a decent amount of it does. People who didn't have VP on farm status will have a tough time with this one boss (Nexona) because none of the gear they can obtain in the earlier raid zones will help that much. In addition, many guilds can simply farm anything before this with little difficulty and yet get "cockblocked" on this one encounter because the difficulty increase is that pronounced.
A big difference between EQ2 and WoW is the notion of Contested mobs (not in an instance, in an overland zone), which really defines high-end raiding in EQ2, more so than WoW. I don't hit contested, but most of the people who complain the loudest here do, and with some of the shit I've seen, its no surprise that they quit.
Check out the this thread - http://www.eq2flames.com/combat-disc...ge-shield.html - to give you more of an idea of one example.

Re: Why all the hate? A little perspecitve.
I understand all of your points and I am not as bullheaded as I might sound. I was not trying to flex my RL-Schlong either, I just don't like to be labelled as 'stupid' when I am clearly not.
I recognize that there are problems in this game, and listening to your voices (the voices of experience) a lot of them are becoming more clear.
Again, my initial post was to point out that most other games have the same issues. Blizzard has a one up on the fact that they have fantastic customer support and listen to the cries of the players. Problem with that is, they listen too much and made the game way too easy. Every boss since release has been nerfed at one time or another, class balance is still out of wack. Basically, same shit, different game.
You got shafted here, don't expect wow to be any different.
That could have been my whole post in one sentence.
Honestly reading a lot of shit posted here IS discouraging me from continuing to play EQ2, doesn't matter if that was the intention of the posters or not.
When you say, though, that people who quit don't care if anyone else does, then why is the general jist of most of the peoples goodbye posts something to the effect of:
"Lets all quit, maybe then SOE will listen, hit em where it hurts, in the wallet"
That is almost a blatant cry for boycott of the game.

Re: Why all the hate? A little perspecitve.
I play both WoW and EQ2. Both games have their faults.
What irratates the crap out of me is the quality control in EQ2. If it's broken, don't fucking release it. Blizzard has released broken stuff but not near as much as EQ2.
You can look at a little bit of history in EQ2 to see the poor quality control. For fuck's sake, when they released LU13, they broke every old world raid mob...just to give you the depth of their poor testing techinquies.
But of course, they have their happy little community of testers...works out well, doesn't it?

Re: Why all the hate? A little perspecitve.
Wow you are retarded aren't you?
I said it in context of what I stated in the first part. Let me spell this out in retard terms to you.
The game is fun
when raid is designed to challenge
1- Your knowledge 2- Your experience in game 3- Your skill (which is a liittle combination of 1-2 and a bit of reflex time)
The game is not fun
When most of the raid is designed around the factor of luck
with shitty and not well tested scripts.
And in terms of your master degree, here is a quote for you.
"See, the sad thing about a guy like you is in 50 years you're gonna start doin some thinkin on your own and you're gonna come up with the fact that there are two certaintes in life. One, don't do that. And Two, you dropped a hundred and fifty grand on a fuckin education you coulda got for a dollar fifty in late charges at the public library "
Get back to your paper, tool.
