After a fresh night of sleep and having re-read this thread I wanted to apologize for any assumptions I may have made about this game I obviously know so little about.

The point of my original post, again, was a response to numerous other threads I have seen about people quitting this game and citing reasons which made no sense, often accompanied by screenshots of them starting a subscription to World of Warcraft.

I was simply trying to offer a little insight as a long time WoW player into how many of the same issues exist there.

Im sure all you guys have valid reasons to hate EQ2, just as I have for WoW. I honestly hope, like many of you do, that a really good next generation mmo comes out soon and rescues all of us hardcore mmo players from the norm and really gives us something to enjoy again.

I still feel a lot of what I said is valid, but I also realize that in response to what many of you said back to me, I really have no place to say anything about EQ2 since I really have no concept of the nature of the complaints you guys have.

Hopefully when I hit 80 and get a chance to raid the game will stay as fun for me as it has been for the past few weeks. If not I am sure I will join in on the bitching.

Good luck to all the people who quit EQ2, I hope you find a game you can enjoy elsewhere, and I hope that if you decided to play wow, this post might have offered some insight into that game.

Good morning. People here weren't really insulting you at first. It's just that we were all like that. I hope that you don't have to join the bitching, but as much as you love the game right now, you will come to resent the people who maintain is equally as much for nearly ruining something with so much potential.

Think it is great right now? In some ways it was exponentially better months, even years ago. All of the missed opportunities and poor decisions will drive you to campaign against the management of this company being allowed to participate in this year's election because you are supposed to be a competent adult when you pick the next president. (Hey hey hey, all of you Bush haters, I said "supposed to be.")

The more you love this game now, the more outraged you will feel at the end unless you make some good friends. Your server has some good people on it. Good luck.

This game can still be fun, I know I still enjoy it after having a few high lvl chars now. However, I came into this game with the determination that I was DONE with heavy raiding after many years and many other MMOs playing that role. Sure i'll do the odd pickup raid for shits and giggles but i'm not going into serious hardcore raiding mode again. I believe this is why i'm still liking the game.

As many have stated most of the big issues they have involve raiding and many of the encounters which seem to be stuck with repeating the same scenario over and over again in just a different order. I've watched many friends over the past while become completely disgruntled with the game, many who have retired from raiding or quit entirely because for them they were here solely for the challenge of raiding. SoE has failed to really give them anything to look forward to aside from more broken encounters and mediocre raid loot along with taking forever to actually fix these issues.

If the OP is intending on merely playing this game for casual enjoyment, ya you'll probably like it for quite awhile. It's when you get heavily into the endgame progression that you'll find plenty of disappointment. There's enough things to do at lvl 80. Lots of decent zones with some nice legendary and some fabled loot. Don't go down the hardcore raiding path and the game should give you some enjoyment for quite awhile to come. :D

I have only browsed over this thread, but I think I picked the main points out.

I too am an ex-WoW player. I was into high end raiding, and it's what made me quit. It got very frustrating and extremely repetitive over time.

I have only done some minor raids in EQ2, none of which were in RoK. So I cannot speak for its current problems. All I can say is that outside of raiding, this game is the best by far. I have played tons of different MMO's, and I am impressed by many aspects in this one.

As a player who has raided in many an MMO, I can sympathize with the frustrated EQ2 raiders. It may be a different game, but I know what it feels like to pour so much time into an activity (like raiding) only to have something like game mechanics, lack of reliable players or just stupidly designed encounters ruin your time. As much as I liked WoW, the endgame eventually frustrated the hell out of me, and it didn't feel good.

Hence the problem, if they can do heroic content so god damn well, why isn't raid content being upheld to that same high standard?

Itemization shouldn't even be an issue, all they have to do is type a random name for an item and give it some better stats then what the heroic stuff has. I really have no idea how the fucked that up so bad as you guys say, sounds crazy.

As for bugged encounters, at least that is semi-understandable, from a programming standpoint, since SOE doesnt do very rigorous testing of stuff (which they should) bugs are going to be common, they are in every other game.

Its almost expected.

I really have no idea why they fucked up the itemization so hard.

In WoW they did something similar where basically you could get the best Tailored gear and you wouldn't upgrade it from any raid loot until almost a year later, if you were a cloth caster, and not a tailor, your gear sucked. If you were a tailor, you didn't get any raid loot cause it wasn't as good.

I really don't see how these developers can screw it up so bad, like I said, you type in some stats on an item with a silly name, give it an interesting proc and there, item done.

I remember looking at some items in WoW and just laughing, sometimes the combination of stats and effects on an item were so stupid no one in the right mind would ever use it.
