Re: Not alot of love for SOE and Smed From mmorpg dot com
All the reasons stated above are why EQOA is a colossal failure, but the lack of even optional support for one of Sony's own peripherals, the hard drive, is what really sucked hard. While there were no load times running from point A to point B, using the coach system to get across the world required up to 8 loading screens, and the wait was ungodly (and if you crashed, you had 1-2 loading screens to get back in, and every death in a group/raid is 2 loading screens, one to go to your spawn point, one to come back). If it had used the HDD, it wouldn't have been nearly as bad.

Console gamers are ADD and would have even less patience with SoE's constant stream of asshaterry than we do.
Not to mention you can play WoW on antique hardware
Not to mention that PS3 is the lose of the console wars
Smed needs a vacation in a rubber hotel room.

Re: Not alot of love for SOE and Smed From mmorpg dot com
" Graphics cards did not sink Star Wars Galaxies, nor is it the reason Vanguard: Saga of Heroes failed. Graphics cards had nothing to do with the mediocre bleh that is Pirates of the Burning Sea, nor did graphics play any part in the sinking of Gods and Heroes.
The problem is, John Smedley seems to have the exact opposite effect of the Midas Touch. While everything Midas touched turned to gold, everything John Smedley comes in contact with turns to shit. "
And this guy is still fucking employed? it's fucking mind blowing!
he's responsible for the NGE, the single largest fuck up in MMO history...and he's STILL employed!
Vanguard, one of the most hyped MMO's ever released, falls flat on it's face...and who's overall responsible for the project?? and i'm sorry, if you didn't know what you were getting into Smed, no excuse. shoulda did your fuckin homework if your name/company name was gonna be anywhere near that steamin pile of buggy shit!
this guy is a fuck-up! that's all i've read about the guy over the last 2 1/2 years...
how the fuck does this guy still have a job in the MMO industry?
take it back to the console only games Smed, that's what ya know. quit fuckin up so many people's entertainment in your quest for gaming world domination!!

Compared to MMOs, console games can at times, require skills.

Not really, developers know that today's console gamers are fucking retarded and can't handle anything requiring even a fraction of the skill Battletoads needed to be beaten. For example most every first or third person shooter released on a console has had either flat out auto-aim or more recently, aim assists that make you hit even if your cursor wasn't directly on the target. Platformers, like Super Mario Galaxy, are easier than ever before. Sports games have always been a joke, and RPGs have never really done anything to exceed MMOs in the skill department.
To be fair, this leaves top down shooters and rythym games. Although the only two "recent" ones that required any amount of skill would be Ikaruga and Pop'n Music, both ports of arcade games.
It's pretty sad, but the majority of console users appear to just be misinformed idiots that believe it costs $4,000 to build a computer capable of running any game made in the last five years.

In fairness, the proper balance for 5% of the players is to get 5% of the content.

Even Mario Galaxy needs more skill than most MMOs. And for the reccord, Virtua Fighter (5 more recently) would trump all you've mentioned.
