To be fair, blaming Smed for the fuck up that is Vanguard is ignorant.

Smed talking about console based MMORPGs brings back memories of SWG.

The rumor mill was all abuzz that SWG's New Game Experience was the direct influence of the PS3. At the time PS3 was supposed to launch a lot sooner then it did. Everyone was talking about how the NGE was implimented to make SWG playable on a console.

If you played old school SWG and NGE SWG you'd know that the old version wouldn't be very user friendly when you just have a game pad. However the NGE version would be.

Saying that, if Smed is talking about console MMORPGs, what do you think the chances are that they'd completely fuck up EQ2 by trying to completely revamp the game/combat mechanics of EQ2 for a console?

You surely read the one ex-junior Vanguard dev's rant where he said Smed was up in arms about VG's failure because he had no idea what the fuck he bought into.

But holy fuck this bears repeating:

Quote:
Graphics cards did not sink Star Wars Galaxies, nor is it the reason Vanguard: Saga of Heroes failed. Graphics cards had nothing to do with the mediocre bleh that is Pirates of the Burning Sea, nor did graphics play any part in the sinking of Gods and Heroes.

The problem is, John Smedley seems to have the exact opposite effect of the Midas Touch. While everything Midas touched turned to gold, everything John Smedley comes in contact with turns to shit.
