Actually my question was simply that. I didn't see where he said he did it cause he knew he was getting money back.

I assumed that he'd already outfitted his alts and his main.

You assumed he did it for the cash.

I read the posts as people speculating on if market value was actual market value or vendor sell back.

You think that doesn't matter.

We differ on our thoughts.

You are correct in that I had no way of knowing what the reimbursement amount would be. But later that night, after I made those posts, I decided that the clear language of the advance patch notes stated that reimbursement would be provided at market value, and market value was likely to be above my normal sale prices even.

So I then made a bunch of additional adornments, and adorned everything in my bank, and everything on two alts, and in their banks as well, including all back up gear and items replaced long ago.

I'm just being honest. I saw an opportunity to make plat, I took a risk that my reading of the patch notes were correct, and I acted on the advance info provided by SoE.

and good for you. in no way was that an exploit. it was not some hidden bug in he game. it was announced by officials and anyone with half a brain could of taken the same risk. But, it was just that, A RISK. His post would of been far different if they only re-funded the fuel cost, he would of been 100plat rather then in.

By the way, there is nothing unethical or improper about acting on public information for personal financial gain in any way. Federal securities laws don't even restrict acting on public information for personal gain. Acting on information made public by SoE for financial gain is the farthest thing from exploiting.

I just did the same thing this time as when Blackguard posted that mages were being switched from moonstones to acrylia clusters for Adept III's during KoS. Then, I purchased hundreds for under 20 g each, and later resold them all for 1 p each.

It's not my fault if anyone else fails to read what gets posted publicly and act on that public information. I'll continue using my eyes and brain to make huge profits in the future as well.

I just didn't know if he knew how much the reimbursment was going to be. Took a risk and deserves the reward.

Sorry if that disappoints, but my concience is crystal clear on this one. I acted on information made public by SoE, and took a risk that I would lose, rather than make money. I just happened to guess correctly by going with my common sense reading of the patch notes.
