Good luck with that.

Based on everything you've said, your mindset isn't even practical. Maybe noble? Sure, let everyone get away with everything. Perfect. Now what does that do for the quality of the game? Drives it into the ground.

Perhaps in our little tit for tat I either misspoke or wasn't clear enough. I don't believe "everyone should get away everything." I simply won't be the moral compass for others. There are really two points:

1.) I don't hold other people to my personal standard. If I believe something to be wrong, I don't expect others to hold that same belief.

2.) As much as I love EQ2, this is still just a video game. If the servers wiped tomorrow, I'll be ok. As a non-raider, winning a fabled item was thrilling. It in no way, shape or form compares to the feeling of my daughter's doctor telling me her disease might be in remission. That maybe she has a chance to live her teenage years without injections, pills, chronic pain and wheelchairs.

I, of course, want the game healthy for many years to come. For that reason, I reserve the term "exploit" for true things like duping. This is why I reported the one I found and didn't use it.

Saw this on the Tenton Hammer site today and thought of this thread. Make your own judgement.

Exploit. Verb. To utilize for one's own gain. To use selfishly or unethically for one's own end.

That definition came from the dictionary, but in gaming, it's a bit more complicated than that. I've seen a few varying definitions of exploiting in MMOs crop up over the years, but the basic gist is this, you are exploiting if you are using an existing in game mechanic in a way that it was not intended.

This brings in a very broad range to the term "exploits"! Technically, leaping off of a griffon mid-flight to reach an area that griffons do not directly take you to, would be an exploit, this is overlooked though because it is harmless, as are a good part of exploits. The exploits that we are talking about, are the ones that give one player an unfair and unearned advantage over another. Things like using a bug for coin or item duplicating are obvious exploits. No developer made a game so that the players in the game could create their own items and coin repeatedly, it's simply not fair to all of the other players in the game who take the time to earn their items and money fairly. Yet there are a good amount of players that find these exploits, and work their little rears off to gain from them before they are discovered and fixed.

I don't disagree, but SoE purposely added the ability to jump off griffs so you could do that lol. Course now you can do it more often since you don't take as much dmg from falling since EoF
