What makes it fun?
After reading the new cure thread, people are totally whining about curing. Apparently, having to click a cure button, or hit alt-1, or whatever people do to cure, is entirely no fun, and is also apparently too hard and stressful. Especially if they have to do this repeatably.
However, if you play a DPS class, you'll often whack the crap out of 1-4 buttons, and spam them non ending throughout a fight...and THAT is big time fun apparently. Heck, alot of melee DPS is from autoattack. So, apparently, some serious fun is to be had by hitting attack once, and then never turning it off. (Because, darnit, THAT's fun!!)
Now...will a DPS class only hit 1-4 buttons? Of course not. However, a healer won't just hit 1-4 cures either.

Maybe because the dps class gets to measure their epeens on the dps parse for button mashing where all that curers get is screamed at for having an impairment stay on the tank for more than .5 sec. .
When I made the character it was a "healer" class....not a "curer" class. I am fine curing things but god damn it.....some fights I don't get a chance to heal because I am spamming cures the whole fight. Last thing we need is another cure to think about.

Re: What makes it fun?
add in debuff and heals to the cures you think everyone is complaining about, leaving damage attacks out, and a healer is pretty busy clicking buttons most of the fight. The fact that they are adding a new cure to a list that already requires you to react with the correct cure while still keeping the mob debuffed and the group alive is why some people don't find the idea fun.
It is a lot more involved than your simple explaination of clicking 1-4.

Re: What makes it fun?
See, I hear what you are saying 44Dragon...but...
Doesn't that make it MORE fun...not less?
I mean, I LIKE having to do stuff when I play my healer. I guess I am in the minority, but I like having stuff to do...it gives me...something to do!! Makes me feel useful to be able to cure, heal, zing in the debuffs, and what the hay, smack them with a smite every once in awhile.

No...how can it be more fun when healers are constantly spamming stuff as it is?
You said you raided with your healer.... from your posts I am sure you haven't raided avatars, overking, VS ect...
The mischief fight alone the druid in my group cured 1200 impairments on 1 fight and those are the ones that I missed so I assume that I cured just about as many as she did. Thats 1 damn group out of 4 groups. I think we ran 8 healers that fight so thats about 9600 cures raidwide. That seems fun to you?
[edit] Plus, a DPS dosen't HAVE to spam buttons and really doesn't have to pay attention to anything they do. Healers have to stare at the health bars the entire fight and have crazy twitch reflexes to cure things as soon as they pop up. That takes such a toll on the healers being that attentive that it makes it no fun.

I think you may be onto something there - I blame parsers - hehe
But seriously - you could cure your arse off all raid - make the difference between the win and the wipe - and what have you got to show for it?
Does anyone realise that's what you just did? Noooo they are too busy drooling over each other's DPS, and maybe even heal parse - not of which would matter for shit if the healer hadn't been curing some really nasty piece of crap on the MT and the raid/group had wiped.

The heal parse is a whole other can of worms that makes it no fun if you are any class other than the defiler. Everybody is too busy patting the defiler on the back to notice how much the other healers worked in keeping people up.

Re: What makes it fun?
Let's go ahead and assume 9600 cures.
Now...let's say they were removed. What I am hearing is, if your healer had less to do, (and all the other ones), this fight would be MORE fun.
Then, you make a comment about the DPS not really having to pay attention to what they do. This implies to me, if you were a healer, and all you had to do was watch TV while you fought...THAT would be fun....because you also would not ahve to pay attention to anything. Personally...I LIKE having to pay attention, I mean, what the hay, paying attention to a game I am actively playing doesn't sound like the end of the world to me.
I do like what Faeth posted...

This implies to me what is fun to alot of people is recognition....and if parsing cures is what is needed, that works for me.
