Just for those who haven't seen it...

I am curious if GH will spawn some kick ass guitarists (for the metal genre, cause of speed) 5-10 years from now

Probably not - playing guitar hero guitar and irl guitar are far too different.

True, they are different, but it could be a jump start into actually learning the real thing. GH teaches eye-hand coordination, rhythm, timing, strumming, hammer-on's, pull-off's, etc., but will never be a complete package. But I do think the game teaches the basics that are major roadblocks to new guitarists.

Ya but if those parents put a real guitar in that kids hands and took him to classes - he'd be fucking awesome.

Let's see....if you break the law by having sex with a minor it definitely carries more weight than a traffic ticket. Depending on the situation and how long and how many times it could land you in the Sex Offender Listing for your state...prison time, fines, community service...a criminal history....having to register as a sex offender and deal with that. Yeah ...sorry but that line Slamdar just doesn't fly where I live.

We have enough pedophiles in this area thanks ...and I've seen what happens to guys who can't keep their pants zipped and girls who can't keep their legs closed and learn to wait until they are older and/or married.

Exactly!

Here are the simple rules for parents who let their kids play EQ2:

1. Keep in the family....if you teach your kid to play you better be sitting there playing right along with him/her

2. TURN OFF THE CHAT CHANNELS!!! They don't need to be reading this until they are older. Mom and Dad can easily get whatever their child needs so long as they have a high enough level toon, plat, and crafters.

3. Said child is not allowed to raid, run a guild or otherwise have contact with other players. This game has plenty of area where said child can solo, harvest and craft to their little heart's content until they are older, paying for the game themselves and are mature enough to converse and play with other MMO players.
I have 2 kids that play the game, 13 and 8. The 13 year old has his own account and computer and is free to group with the friends he made or with my husband and myself, the 8 year old has a toon on his brothers account. Now my husband and I will group with the 8 year old and do have swear filter on for him. But to shut EVERYTHING off .. now that I do not do nor is the 8 year old allowed to get in groups with others or raid for that matter..

I do not believe in trying to censor or hide things from my kids. "OMG you can't play that game people die and curse get back in your bubble honey" My children know IT IS A GAME! and therefor NOT something to go and do in RL. All comes down to parenting and making sure they know right from wrong. Hell they see ALOT worse on the news these days.

Lighten up people......

Lighten up you say? So says the lady who's not exactly a good role model for her kids after the stunt you pulled the last time I was guilded with you...and yeah I haven't forgotten about that either.

I will disagree here only because yes I have played as long as you have Orenishi...and I have seen the things that are discussed in chat....coming from this christian mom....no I don't like it, I don't approve of it...most of it is sexually oriented and is not for my kids to hear or listen to. Now as for other parents that is their decision....if you don't care that your kids get corrupted then fine...go right ahead an do whatever you want...I will not tell you how to parent.

In my case I will censor what my kids see, hear and listen to if I so please....because there are good aspects of this game and there are bad....bad as in there are A LOT of immature people who play this game....when I play I tolerate it by turning off the chat channels and doing what I enjoy without having to listen to the filth that some people choose to spew in the chat channels....yes I find it extremely offensive...therefore I choose to ignore it and not let my kids see it.

It's all in the point of view. I have mine and yes I'm an over protective mother....don't really care whether people like it or not. All I know is I can look at myself in the mirror at the end of every day and I know that I protected my children and taught them what they need to know at the time they need to know it and in a manner where they understand what is right, what is wrong and why.

Honestly I respect what other parents do even if I don't like it. We agree to disagree. So be it.

Instead of teaching your kids something worthless like religion you should teach them logic and reasoning skills. Censoring stuff doesn't solve anything, it just makes your kids grow up naive and ignorant.

Teach them both. Interesting thing I heard a preacher say, is that people focus on the killings done in the name of religion but never compare them to those done in the name of "rational" godlessness (Nazism, Communism, Reign of Terror during French Revolution, etc). And then there was Reagan's great speech on the matter.
