Re: Burnout - How do you handle it?
I'm always burned out on EQ2, so I don't know what it's like not to have burnout.

Re: Burnout - How do you handle it?
Well, before I would cruise various ROM sites looking for mindless action and/or shooter type games to occupy my time while I switch my brain over to cruise control.
Of course, technically, I'm now in a permanent state of EQ2 burnout, and MMO burnout in general, so whatever....

Motorcycles and tequila...but not at the same time!
And occasionally a few days on my lil pvp toon or just some time away from gaming all together.

Re: Burnout - How do you handle it?
get a job and beer.
read a book and beer.
watch a movie and beer.
go for a nice long evening walk with the family, put the kids to bed, beer and quality wife time.
beer and sleep. sleep is key these days.
when in doubt, beer.
[you may substitute beer with a number of other things if needs be]

Re: Burnout - How do you handle it?
Ok, first of all lets just say I am the expert in eq2 burnout and how to deal with it.
IMO the #1 reason for burnout is being in a guild you don't like. This is a game not a job, and putting up with fuckers you don't like makes the game feel more like a fucking job and that could cause MAJOR burnout.
#2 reason for burnout is when you have to pick between RL and the game. When you have many things going on IRL and the game is interfering with it, you'll get burnout. People with NO LIFE or depressing life have no problem with this, since the game is where they go to get away from reality.
#3 reason for burnout is being in a hardcore raiding guild. Mandatory raid attendance, mid night contested run, minimum raid %, plus the stress of raiding can cause some bad burnout as well. IMO if you have no problem with #2, then you shouldn't have to worry about #3, unless you're a weaksauce.
There are several ways of dealing with burnout. One is to take some time off the game, but IMO the best way of dealing with burnout is to delete or sell your toon. After you do that you can either start fresh with another toon, or quit the game completely. Either way you won't have to deal with your burnout anymore.

Re: Burnout - How do you handle it?
well being as i have never had this issue, only as someone stated above about deleting a character and leaving the guild i was in for those reasons.
You could try the "New highly trained medical leeches" to purifity your mind of eq2.

People dont burn out due to real life. That is an excuse made up by non hardcore raiders to explain away why they are teh suck @ EQ2. There are countless threads where hardcore raiders scream this at the top of thier lungs. Real life is not a reason for burnout, it is an excuse for the weak, and the undedicated.
#3 reason for burnout is being in a hardcore raiding guild. Mandatory raid attendance, (Bah, raiding 7 nights a week, 4 hours on weeknights and another 12-14 hours on weekends burns you out? Pussy)mid night contested run,(guilds dont actually run on contested mobs outside of raid times, this is a blatent lie told by non hardcore raiders to rationalize why they are teh suck. After hours raids just dont happen, ever) minimum raid %, (minimum % are easy to maintain when your in hardcore raiding guilds, because as has been clearly stated, hardcore raiders do twice as much in half the time, due to thier brains working faster than normal peoples)
|
Jesus man, people are gonna spaz on you if you keep telling blatent untruths like this. If your gonna post at EQ2 flames, you need to be aware of a few things:
1) EQ2 raiders function in a slightly faster channel of the space/time continum, and therefore unlike mortals, they are able to accomplish twice as much in an hour as the best normal human could.
2) EQ2 Hardcore raiders post mandatory raid times and attendance policies on thier web sites, but thats a farse. Because of #1, they only actually raid for HALF that time, the rest of the scheduled raid time, they are off farming spells and coin, and generally doing the chores that eats up the rest of a regular persons play-time.
3) Mid night contested runs dont exist. All the really top tier end game elite dudes only play 3 hours a day, and they will not, by any means, spend 20 hours online watching with a lvl 2 alt for a mob to pop. They are so elite, they just have SOE page them when a mob pops, and if its outside a scheduled raid time, they call the gm/dev in thier guild and have that shit depopped until later when they all get on.
