This may sound overly simplistic and kinda asshole(ish) but here goes the truth:

I get burned out when i play this god damned game too much

To counter this burnout I stop playing.

If you have to 'trick' yourelf into playing while your burned out, thats probably a sign you need to step away from the fucking computer for awhile.

I stop logging in except for raids and occupy my new free time reading books, playing visual novels, working out or sleeping...my pillow is just too comfortable~.

I always feel burned out on Monday after weekend of raiding, not because I dislike raiding or even get stressed by it, no what really bugs me is as follows:

!. You spend 3 months working on strats so you can kill that final boss and some twat who pissed about for those three months, didn't put any time in on raids, didn't take 100s & 100s of % of debt improving his own knowledge of his toon and how it interacts with other classes, just waltz's into the raid because of his position in the guild, takes a spot which could better have been used by another person and then questions every fucking move just because his wife uses ACT, Well Big News tosspot, we all do :P

2. The same people turn up late for raid every week, still get drops, then say they have to leave early after you get into zone and can't easily get someone else there.

3. Unnecessay chat on Vent which gets so out of control the tank can't get a word in to actually give a pull countdown.

4. The need that some people have to hold a fecking post mortem exam after every god damn pull even thought the strat works, some small thing just fucked up at the last minute.

5. Wasting 30-40% of the available raid time on all of the above.

Yes I sometimes think "Fuck it" why should I waste my time but then Monday night comes around and I'm there at the zone in again, on time, potions, signets and what ever else I need at the ready and fully committed to kicking some mob butt.

In honour of how I feel today i have changed my last name to "'Raid'Rage".

Dude, if that's the way your guild operates, then your guild sucks.

I get a bit of burnout when I get a long few days of logging in with no one to quest with. I'm that dreaded suck ass soloing Templar.

Granted I can't force anyone else in my guild to play where I want to, but after a few times it sucks ... so I go hit WoW or Vanguard, or any other of many games I have to play with the husband.

Burnout is an unfortunate thing that many player's experience during their time within any game. There was a period in time when I was so burned out in EQ2, I canceled my account and went to play other games. I played both single player games as well as other MMO's like WoW.

So after a while of doing the single player thing and trying out other MMO's, I decided to come back to EQ2 but this time I came back to pvp. I been so hyped up about WAR and AoC, I wanted to sharpen my pvp skills hehe. I created a character over in the Nagafen pvp server and played for about a year. That was a great experience and something fresh, but it did get old after a while.

So a couple of us from Nagafen decided to go back to a "blue" server and retire there until the "next big thing." Transfering servers with your character's bring's a fresh sense of play as well. You get to meet new people, new guilds and at time this may either be a better experience, or a worse experience, but it depends on how you make of it.

Another thing I noticed that makes the game a lot more "fresh" is boxing. As a boxer, I get to power level alot of character's. I farm Master's and Gear and make lots of plats to support all my End Game toons. This is an excellent way to learn other classes as well and how they are useful within groups.

Something else you might want to try is betraying, this is another way to experience the "other side" of your profession. While you will be left with no master's and class gear after you betray, you might want to make sure you are prepared to spend plats on spells and make sure you get yourself in a guild that raids as well as needs the class you are betraying into so that your not left in the dust.
