Default Friend group make-up...

I have a couple of RL friends and we're making alts to adventure together on the same server.

Our tank is a monk - not the best choice for a tank, but he REALLY wants to be a monk
Our scout is a brigand - good dps and serious debuffs
Our healer is a templar - I would almost have preferred a fury for the ports, but he is stuck on templar

That leaves me. I thought about a wizard, for more dps, but would a dirge be a better choice? Or even illusionist for dps plus excellent buffs?

Any suggestions to complete the group?

Fury heals would be significantly better in this group than a plate healer, imo.

I'd choose illy from your list. A bard would be nice (a troub, even).

Are there just the 4 of you then?

I'd lean towards dirge.

DPS buff should be more beneficial to the monk and the brig over haste. Dirges can do decent dps. A spare rez and a spot heal if the shit hits the fan. Avoidance song if you need more durability.

But a well played illusionist is something pretty spectacular. So whichever one is more interesting to you.

Templar monk is gonna make for some scary spike damage is all I'll say there. I'd go dirge too bonus DPS, manasong (cuz you're gonna be using a ton of mana keepin him up), avoidance songs, extra rez, sacrificial healing and most importantly I'd say for your poor tank/healer stoneskin.

Change the title to "Friend group make-out" then i'll care...

but seriously, wife, friend, and i took a monk, dirge, and templar up to 30's, and it was a GREAT combination...

we were killin orange mobs no problem, it almost seem TOO overpowered, but fun as hell...and VERY doable!

dirge just makes everyone better, especially monk!

Dirge would be the best for that setup if you ask me, and as for the healer i'd say not a Templar OR a fury but rather a mystic (or an inquis) cause they go nicely with the Melee buffs, but a templar's not bad.

Because it seems like your starting these characters from scratch, I'd go Illy.

You can shoot for Illusionary Arms and Time compression right away for DPS/Healer needs. You can add plenty of survivability with chain stuns/stifles and even mezzing when necessary. For heroic content, a good Illy can prevent oodles of damage. Tank spike hard? Lock the mob for 10-15 seconds.

Also when it comes to end-game DPS and buffs, Illy's are still in demand.

I've used Bruiser + Inquis, Bruiser + Fury, and Bruiser + Defiler.

As long as you arent pulling crazy and actually have someone who uses the right stances/gear, there will be no problem with the plate healer brawler combo. People dont really understand that even though leather has lower mitigation reactives will heal almost all damage as long as the healer rotates them right and uses ad3's or masters. A brawler should also dodge most attacks therefore making the reactives actually last longer than a few seconds, and even closer to their full duration I used to take on epic x2's and x3's with my inquis bruiser combo just fine and thought it was funny as all hell.

As for what you guys should take, i'd say dirge. Melee buffs, way faster run, and can switch between dps and survivability setups for what the group needs more. Power regen is also priceless for those who make smaller groups like you guys because the battle that usually take a full group might last a while.
