Look around. The game is in decline. Dont believe me, check out the guild recruiting page. Who knows, it may be me. Im not calling FOR a server merge. Everyone hated it the first time, but if population keeps declining, it may be the only saving grace. Tons of people are /ragequitting due to the direction content is taking, some leave for other games and some just simply jump servers more times than I change my underwear.

Changing servers usually only apply to raiders, ill give you that. Raiders may be the minority of the population, at least for now, but they are also a smaller representation of the whole community. This isnt about content or itemization, plenty of threads on that, im speaking strictly numbers. If top end raid guilds are scrambling to fill numbers, and learning to 3 grp content out of necessity, it can only mean that the pool of players to choose from is dwindling. One can only assume that if the raider community is faltering, the whole population must be too. How many of you out there have transferred servers to join a raid guild, only to realize when you get there, they are still in a recruiting phase and you just blew your 50 bucks. Or have to transfer to another guild on yet another server 3 months later. Thats the trend, its happening more and more and server pop. isnt stabalizing.

Newer games are coming, content is getting old and we may have reached the life-span of EQ2. Some people still like the game, so is it necassary to merge to save it. My opinion is yes, yours may differ. Feel free to open a poll, im just curious on actual opinions. I would like to see thoughts, ideas, maybe other solutions. A poll just seems limited to yes or no. Real feedback provides helpful insight which can then be formatted to actual solutions and passed on to whom it may concern or the powers that be.

Personally, im a raider. Ive been in raid guilds that have flopped due to decreasing numbers and no player pool to fill from. If i cant raid, i dont see the point in playing an MMO. Lots of quality players are leaving, since guilds cant fill spots. If this trend continues, the game ends. Population needs to increase, i feel its too late to stabalize and save it. Too many guilds are already undermanned, and not everyone can afford the 50 bucks to jump server.

I would love to see this stay constructive, but if you must flame, keep it short, get it out of your system and allow the real ideas to flow.

I seriously doubt population has declined since last year at this time, if anything I think its higher. Raid fatigue is real and likely happening, well I know its happening, but that has nothing to do with the health of the game in general.

People are running less instances because theyve run them all 40x. People are cutting back on playtime. But I doubt that is translating into any sort of cut back in total subs.

I will agree with you though on many of your points. Raiding guilds no longer pull from within their server 95% of applicants come from other servers, on unrest i is no uncommon to see 2 instances up in ROK that includes all the overland zones. Perhaps a server merge is the solution.. I do know that i see alot of folks just goofing off and playing those dusty alts..

I know i hated it when neriak merged with kith. It would be funny though to be merged with kith again LOL pay 50 bucks to leave server to raid only to be merged back LOLS.

Although Confirmed VS. CL would be an awsome dog fight to watch.. no doubt.

Unrest is a lot more populated than Nektulos was. I don't think were ready yet. After the next generation of MMOs come out? Possibly.

I think some servers may be ready for merges. I mean don't merge anything with like Unrest, Befallen etc. But I know even when I was on Najena for a short time, a server like that, at all hours of the day, wasn't near as active as Befallen.

So, if server merges are badly needed now, you can expect them in about a year or two. It usually takes SOE a year for things to sink in..

Personally, Crushbone is ok as far as population. Some of the others seem to be in need of merging. I think that merging the low pop ones into one server might be a good idea. The ones with healthly populations don't need to be touched.

Splitpaw has a very healthy population imo. No merger needed at all. The lag is bad enough atm with 4 or possibly more guilds in VP at the same time.
