Modified HQ about 15 ~ 20fps in raid, full screen mode with shadows (minimal particle effects though).

1920x1200, E6600 @ 3.2Ghz and a 9800GX2, 4GB ram, 74gb raptor, Windows Vista HP 32bit.

Default Re: Do you raid in Balanced mode or higher?

I run in Balanced on raids, Very High when not raiding. But I haven't fine tuned my machine too much for performance, just haven't got around to it. Sometimes I'll bump up some of the textures to High on raids, but I keep crashing for out-of-memory if I bump environment or LoD textures to Maximum, character textures are fine. Particles, definitely turned down so I can see what the hell is going on.

1680x1050, about 15-20 fps on raids, higher elsewhere, fullscreen.
Core 2 Quad Q9300 @ 2.5GHz
8800GTS (the one with the stuttering problems), 512mb
8GB PC6400
500gb maxtor HD on SATA
Vista Ultimate SP1 64-bit.

On a side note, at least in Vista 64-bit, you take a substantial FPS hit running in windowed mode. On my old XP machine, the framerate hit was minimal enough to not be noticeable.

I'm hoping the new large-address aware client will crash for memory errors a lot less often. Maybe even see a performance boost because of it too.

Default Re: Do you raid in Balanced mode or higher?

before i list my specs, i just want to note that i play on a 30" Dell widescreen w/ a native res of 2560x1600... significantly more pixels for the GPU to push

FX-57
3GB RAM
8800 Ultra
Vista 64
3 WD Raptor's (one OS drive and the other two in RAID0 for apps)

i can comfortably raid most zones on max/max textures, complex shaders off, particles off, shadows off

i wish this game wasn't so CPU bound, it sucks to have the best GPU on the market in your machine for so long and knowing that your main game can't even take advantage of most of it =(

I'm running on

Vista Ultimate 64
eVGA nForce 790i Board
4GB Corsair Dominator RAM (DDR3 1800)
8800 Ultra
32GB Solid State Drive (SSD) to run OS from - two 1TB drives for storage
2 Monitors (2nd for Ventrilo/ACT) - 30 inch Samsung (2560 x 1600) and a 22 inch Samsung

I run Extreme Quality in raids and otherwise with shadows turned off and 0 particle effects (hate them). I run about 60 FPS in outside zones and 40-60 in raid PvP/raid zones.

PC:

C2c e6850 ( 3ghz)
8800gt 512
2gig dominator corsair ram
10k rpm raptor HD
widescreen, 20inch, 1680 x 1050
XP

I run pretty much high beautiful settings out of raid, could probably run my graphics much prettier than I do now, but I basically turn Eq2 into Lego Mode for raids. These are my 4 magical settings that make the difference between beautiful and lego.

Textures = all minimum (normally all high, or maximum in non RoK zones lol)
Complex shader slider = 0 (35 - 80 out of raid)
particles = everything set to 0/minumum (everything maxed out of raid)
model detail = 0 high detail models on screen (this one is pretty significant if you run 3+ normally)

My fps must be over 30 most the time because it usually feels pretty smooth no matter what with these settings. I know a lot of peeps just use the custom profiles but i've always been a graphic guru, so I mess with all the individual settings for gains/losses.

I raid in high quality no problem, but have to raid PVP in extreme performance.

3 tips for high fps

1. Disable targeting rings
2. /ics_maxcameradistance 100.00
3. press F10 twice. You need skill to use this one especially if you are a healer or a class with a requirement for more than 3hotbars worth of buttons :P

Are targeting rings done in software too? And what does /ics_maxcameradistance do?

Targetting rings have a massive impact on frame rate for me, especially if there are more than a few being rendered. I am not sure what way they are done. (this one has setting is amazing for raid pvp situations 24 rings = bad!)

max camera distance allows u to zoom further out which simply moves your renderer away from where effects are. Basically its making use of the render distance cutoff settings for different effects (ie zoom out if its getting laggy :P Much better than having to wait for full graphics settings to load) I find zoomed out this far gives a much more cinematic experience too.

Another tip is to position yourself so that you are not looking at the entire raid at point blank range! eg on milyex stand to the side a bit and zoom right in to enjoy extreme quality graphics with all those lovely fireballs flying into the mob :P

oh and another thing. disable as many ui windows as u can especially ones with spell effects (its an idea to disable listing of spell effects on atleast 1 of your targetting windows as updating these is a waste of resources for the most part).

Another one for the clicky ppl is to reduce the amount of info provided by tool tips for hotbars (in settings somewhere) and also increase or add to the delay time before tooltips are displayed. You can test yourself how bad having zero delay on overly full tooltips is by moving your cursor over hotbars really fast!

Basically the ui in this game is terribly inefficient as can be proven by the f10 twice combo with fraps.
