Re: Do you raid in Balanced mode or higher?
Once you have even a semi decent system the biggest problem you'll face is your internet connection and server side lag.
I can run balanced sometimes on avatars with no lag and no issues, then other times I can't even do it in COA without hitting lag

The new 45nm processors are stupidly better than the older Core 2 Duos, and even cheaper... kinda hard to find, but they're definitely worth it. I can load Vista in about 8-10 seconds, as opposed to the 24-30 seconds it took on a 10,000 RPM hard drive. I mean you can get the e8400 for like $210 and OC it to like 4-4.5GHz depending on if you want to get extra cooling and fuck with voltage, or you can get a QX9650 for $1,000 and be able to overclock it to your heart's content.
Of course the difference between the two won't even be noticed in EQ2, so I guess here's to looking towards a newer game that takes advantage of said hardware~

Another one for the clicky ppl is to reduce the amount of info provided by tool tips for hotbars (in settings somewhere) and also increase or add to the delay time before tooltips are displayed. You can test yourself how bad having zero delay on overly full tooltips is by moving your cursor over hotbars really fast!
Basically the ui in this game is terribly inefficient as can be proven by the f10 twice combo with fraps.

While idling at TS docks, I get roughly 40 fps with the Profit UI and 60 fps with F10 x 2. The UI is the bottleneck it seems.
And if you look at the UI, most of it never changes during gameplay, yet it consumes so many resources. This shit needs to be fixed on the dev end. Individual UI windows should not be getting redrawn unless their contents or size changes.

It will do wonders for your framerate, until your chat windows fill up again.

Re: Do you raid in Balanced mode or higher?
Most Settings Maxed except:
-No Shadows
-Player Partical Spell Effects are off, they blind me heh
-Water effects are down too.
Running 1920x1200 windowed
Anywhere from 15fps-100fps in raid, but on average it hovers around 40fps
Haven't been in vp so the raids were all in t1-t3 Zones
System Specs:
Cpu: QX9770 Running @ 4.7Ghz Cooled by A Custom Phase Change System.
MB: Evga 790i
Ram: Corsair DDR3 (PC3 14400) 4Gb (1Gb X4)
GPU: Evga 8800Ultra X2
HDs: WD Raptors X2 in RAID 0
OS: Windows XP Pro 64-bit
Any other specs You need i can edit in.
Just on a technical note, I was using Vista Ultimate 64-bit with 3 8800ultras but the performance was just ass so i dropped back to 2 in XP and it out Performs Vista + tri-sli by 10-15fps.
I have also used two 9800GX2's in Sli and there is little or no comparison in Everquest 2 performance compared to the ultras.
If you need any other performance specs just let me know.

(ohh and if your wondering, I have a friends that work at intel and Evga so I get hooked up with this stuff cheap.)
