Default end game raiding, couple questions

I am fairly new to EQ2, and like everyone else that is new I have been looking through forums all day, mostly while at work.

There is tons of information on classes, AA, etc. which is great, I find this site rather useful , even with the occasionally colorful banter in some of the threads.

Now I am coming from Wow ( yes I know I said the W word ). I was a primarily PVE raider, pretty much seen it all minus Sunwell.

Now that being said classes there are balanced enough that it doesn't matter what guild your in, you will be useful in some aspect to raiding.

I have been bouncing around in TD , I have a few levels 20's , one level 42, and debating which class I really want to level up, because at some point I would like to raid.

However, I read more and more that many classes are excluded from raiding guilds OR just not really utilized. I hear rants and raves on the forums about this on many many threads from all kinda of classes.

Now is it really as bad as people perceive it to be. I would hate to level up an 80 of a class I really enjoy to be shunned by potential raiding guilds because of the class I decided to play.

It's bounced around some. For a little while one class may not be the best, but then something will come along and make them pretty good. It's really hard to say, because by the time you are 80, things will probably change. To a point, I think it depends on what type of raiding guild you want to get into as well. If it's something more casual, and you're a good player, your class won't matter as much. If you want to get into an end game raiding guild where they min/max things a bit more, then you need to be a good player and be a class they happen to need. Look through the recruitment section and you can get a feel for what types of classes guilds are looking for right now. It's not too often guilds want/need a shadow knight, regardless if they are casual of hardcore, and this has probably been happening longer to sk's than any other class. But if you are damn good and think you can be one of the top few ww, then I'm sure somebody would have you join.
Edit: your best bet would be to level up a couple toons, unless you pick a class that has always been desireable on raids. Seems to always be a need for bards. Or a very high dps class (which like I said earlier changes from time to time)

Play whatever class you have the most fun with. If you're having fun with it, then chances are you'll always be getting better, or atleast trying. Playing a class you're not having much fun with, won't keep your interest and then you probably won't try as hard to get better. Raiding guilds want people that are pretty damn good, but also willing to get better. Some classes are more desireable, during different times depending on what recent changes soe puts in the game, but if you're a good player and having fun, you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a home.
