You would think that the fellow above was just being a whiny bitch, but it is pretty much true.

It DID have a heyday, but that has long since passed. Today the only real games you can play are:

1. Get very good at spamming cures / anti-stifles during raid bosses
2. Save up enough plat to "buy" your own mythical from NPU
3. Or, alternately, suck a developers cock for your own pet strategist, straight from the offices of SOE.
4. Or, still alternately, take two weeks off from work and app to NPU, camp contested spawns for them, and hope you make the cut. (Or suck a cock, shorter app times I hear.) Practice the following mantras: "We're still better than you even without being Sony's bitch", "Cheating doesn't affect you or anyone else in this game", and "Nobody cares lol".

If you really are waiting on AoC (or Warhammer, like me) and you just want something to pass the time, DO NOT start up EQ2 IMO. The company that runs this game is just a piece of shit, they shit all over their community and stifle all criticism, and they allow and condone cheating to better their favored guilds.
So, I'm thinking I could really help out a guild struggling with strats.

Coming from someone having played most of the mmo's on the market, play WoW. I played EQ2 hardcore for like ~2 years, all the while making fun of WoW, boy was I wrong. WoW is more fun both casually and hardcore.

Do yourself a favor:

Set the credit card down and step slowly away from the computer.

This isn't the game you're looking for. You can go about your business. Move on, move on.

Seriously, once he takes the red pill at around level 35, he's fucked.

EQ2 probably is worth buying if you never played before. Even the dead servers still get enough people that run the popular dungeons.

The game is still worth it for dungeon crawls through places like:
Ruins of Varsoon
Crushbone keep
Runny Eye
Permafrost
Mines of Meldrath
Klak'anon
Achadecism

After that if you quit then you probably got your money's worth.

I was always told eq2 sucked but it doesn't seem so bad. It seems a bit dumbed down though compared to games I've enjoyed before.

So how bad is SOE these days? Still stealth nurfing, ruling the official forums with secret police, and refusing to admit things are broken in game?

I really don't want to give them any of my money but it does seem somewhat fun.
Just wait a month for AoC b4 you spend money...lvl 10 took 2hrs cuz the starting max lvl is 80 =)

I hear this all the time and to be honest I've never ever had problems finding groups at low levels. Everyone 20+ seems to be an alt of a max level toon and wants to do dungeons and xp runs. Maybe it's just my luck, but I always seem to get groups for old level zones easily.

Having said that I miss levelling in FG, ROV, RE etc. with a ton of people in zone. Everything seems to be instanced or solo quested for the quickest XP gain nowadays and it's incredibly sad. Those dungeons are my fondest memory of the game and now they're barren, cast aside, and only used by those who played the game from or around the time of release it seems.

Well if your going to be top end raider dont roll a SK. Other than that.. Its a fun fucking class. Even if some of the lowlifes here say it sucks. do the class you like to play. But its true tho. if you want to raid you should go for another class.

PvP doesn't really seem worth it. People lvl lock themself at 14 and wear twink armor to go try and pick fights with all the new lvl 10's?

PvE seemed fun. Maybe its just better I wait for pvp in a different game?
Mistake #1 was choosing Vox.
Mistake #2, reading 1-9, 10-19 on Nagafen and taking anything seriously.
There is no true locking you get exp from pvp kills, it is a lot in the teens, and you lvl from quests. You can lock exp and go slow, but going to Timorous Deep with friends and get that gear = twinking pretty much.

There are a lot of low lvls on Nagafen, just from people rolling alts, the lower tiers 20-50 are a lot of fun still. 50-70 are dead. 80 is good again.

Roll on Naggy, lock exp at ten (you still lvl thru teens fast) but you will have some AA to compete. Unlock exp when you get a decent amount of AA. Upgrade your fucking spells so you aren't crying about not killing anyone. Don't roll a scout, everything is really expensive for them.
