I gotta admit, EQ2 lore means very little to me.

I get the whole shattering thing. I think Darathar's egg made the prismatics but everything after that is just dragon killing to me. I never really felt engaged in the storyline.

I am not a big fan of lore but wasn't there an entire thread about how messed up the lore was and how some things didn't make any sense?

Either way another one bails the sinking ship.

I didnt even know storylines were suppose to go into zones and stuff. I thought the lore guy just wrote all the scripts for quests i have to click through until i see what i need to do in my quest window.

In a way though, that was one of the great things about the game's stories. If you weren't interested it was no big deal, you could still do your quests and get your loots and life was good. If you *wanted* to know where the guardian epic sword Vel'Arek came from, for instance, or why Woushi was guarding a big flower, there was a rabbit hole of enormous proportions you could fall into.

/plays a dirge for the fallen bard, ending in the old familiar "brown note."

I don't think EQ's lore is all that special. I don't think it matters what they do with it, they don't care about the community, why should they give a damn about the lore?

Meh eq2 lore has always seemed to me like it was written to fit the game, not the other way around.

I've never really had the feeling that I was a part of the events, like I frequently did in EQ1.

Again I say meh.

The problem here is that here's another developer that really did care about the game going by the wayside. The other ones who don't care about the game, and merely care about how they can turn a side profit from being a dev are still around, and still cheating and whatnot. While I never really gave much of a shit about EQ2 lore, Vhalen leaving will definitely have reprocussions.

That's too bad. My assumption is that whomever takes his place will mess it up. :<
