The problem really isn't the top 1 or 2 items anymore (this was the main problem in T7), it's everything below that. You have heroic stuff better than T1-T3 items and T1 items better than T4 items and so forth.
I can see that reasoning, and I'd certainly bow to your superior knowledge on dirge gear progression (especially since I exploit that knowledge in my gear choices ).

I disagree that the best 107 items for a dirge should all be raid only, but that's just me.
So should ANY of that items on that list be Mastercrafted? In the past few weeks now that I revisited it theres alot of the Heroic stuff thats been bumped off thanks to SoH... but pre-Maestro SoH and PR is WAAY overdone on that list.

None of the top 2 items should come off of anything but VP and avatars, and I say this knowing that chances are I will never see most of this stuff. I dont need that shit to validate wither or not I am having fun in the game

I just wish the subclass armor was worth a shit so that T1-T3 I had something class defining to work towards the bottom of each slots list.

I think that would be very cool, too. The problem with this game is that it's gear dependent enough that what is barely doable for a fabled character is likely impossible for a mastercrafted one. I like your idea, but if you're going to do something like that then you HAVE to give characters a way to get kitted out enough to even attempt that hard solo quest without raiding.

What's stopping you from saving up plat and buying raid loot from guilds, exactly?

EDIT: And for that matter, why do you have to be able to do a solo quest exclusively solo? Last I checked, every expansion's epic quest has required soloing and grouping. If all I like to do is raid, shouldn't I be able to exclusively raid?

When I still played, I considered myself to be a raider. However, I only raided like 2 hours a night, we were locked out every fucking zone aside from that. Then aside from sitting around camping contested I was off soloing Poets, Nest, Den, SoS, PoA, doing writs in Barren Sky, or farming shinies in EoF. The VAST majority of my playtime was spent soloing. Totally not fair if you ask me!

Just the MC gloves are on there now, I believe. And last tier's best gloves should be better that those I agree, though I believe the dirge board was recommending continuing to use the 3-set bonus from EOF so the gloves would prolly be a good slot to take advantage of that.

This is the first month I have paid for this game for over 2 years, let's see if I feel like paying or even logging in next month.
Not everybody thinks it's a bad design, though. Like I mentioned earlier, even when we were farming elementals in EQ1 we still had a lot of people who wanted to go back to Vex Thal and get various things like the Aten Ha Ra necklace. And I think that's good because it doesn't nullify all older content the moment a new expansion comes out. One thing I really loathed when I started playing this game was how gear would grey out and end up giving less than it said it would. That whole mechanic rendered killing any named/epics below the highest current tier pretty much useless except in rare occassions. Contrast that with EQ where people were still doing Luclin when PoP was out and getting viable gear. Same with people still doing Time when GoD came out, etc. The point being there are lots of people who think having things keep a variety of zones (including the various tiers of raiding) giving viable upgrades for people is a healthy thing for the game.

Integrity?

Just kidding. All cliches to the contrary, this particular casual gamer would like to earn her gear.

Refusing to refute anything in my post is for people that can't make a solid point.

Want to earn fabled gear? Go raid. Damn, that was hard.

Can you list a full kit of raid loot that's available for sale on the broker?
