This lag may be the way they are caching information based upon relative distance from you to the target. I remember a developer wrote about it.. but its been a while since i've seen it.

I play on Everfrost on an almost daily basis and I can only recall about 3 lag spikes (that lasted only for a few seconds each) in the last month. I am pretty certain these were network lag issues on the server. My group mates always experienced the lag at the same time.

It's interesting that certain equipment can cause lag because of code bugs. Maybe that's why some people are having so many issues and others on the same server are not.

P.S.

I do raid, but not necessarily in areas where mobs are charming PCs. Apparently bugs can make charm cause lag too.

I only raid a little, I experienced brief spikes in combat this weekend mainly in groups. None of us are all that charming...

Splitting a thread 70/30 across two CPU's is actually BAD for performance. OS kernels for good reasons go to great lengths to try to keep a thread on the CPU it ran on last.
