In my experience, most lag is client side, i.e. your computer can't handle the code. So yes, it would be Sony's fault if the code is too strenuous for the average gamer's computer. Some people may have their graphics and rendering settings too high for their system, others may have ISP problems, but I'd bet a lot of the problem is that Sony's code is not working efficiently.

The lag that Illuminator is complaining about has nothing to do with client settings, unless your computer's performance is depending to the time of day

How the fuck do people not understand the difference between lag and shitty performance?

When your client chugs along at 5fps or just completely and utterly freezes, that's not lag at all. When you cast a spell and sit there with the casting bar finished for a few extra seconds, but you can run around and spin the camera all you like without issue, that's lag. You'd think people would be able to differentiate the two.

The in-game performance (both server lag AND framerates) have been jacked to shit with the last couple updates and it's gotten progressively worse instead of better so draw your own conclusions as to who's fault it is and what the chances of a resolution within a "reasonable" time frame are.

quibbling over whether its $user's system or isp is just fucking dumb. it's gotten progressively fucking worse over the past 2 game updates, extreme on the last one.

Would that matter? We have no more control over the version of the client we run than we do over the version running on the server farm.
