From this we can conclude:
a) My computer is not too weak.
b) It is not my ISP.
My PC is 2.4GHz Core Duo w/4GB RAM on Vista 64, 8800 GTS/512 RAM with no stuttering on High textures all across. My ISP is Road Runner cable which recently demonstrated 800Kb/sec (kilobyte, not kilobit) sustained download speeds.

Are you lagging in zone where noone is around in the live server?
Not to knock you, but only really solid conclusion from your test is that your system runs fine when noone is around on a different server. It does support that your ISP is not the problem, which most people probably already guessed. But it doesn't rule out that your settings aren't the problem. Just the opposite, it seems more likely that you should play with your settings when and where you are experiencing the problem.
Yes, you have a nice system, but just about every build out there can get bogged down by EQ2. After all, they designed it with the future in mind....too bad that future hasn't arrived.

Re: This fucking, fucking lag
I've found that I can raid with single client at about 17-25 fps with my current high texture/low particle effect settings.
In KP this past weekend I was in TG and Kunzar's Edge with minimal people nearby if any, when I had all the lag spikes, and running 2 clients at maybe 30fps each.

Re: This fucking, fucking lag
TG is inherently laggy. It is a graphical/client based issue, not a server issue.

Re: This fucking, fucking lag
The spikes were focused on KP/QH but occurred anywhere in the game.

Mind you that the client can no longer talk to server with the modem off yet I get a massive performance increase. Whatever the client is doing while talking to the server when the internet is connected is a massive resource hog. It is inconceivable to me that the client-server communication in EQ2 can be so inefficient.

i could not reproduce this in any possible way. pulling network cable = no change in fps at all.

Re: This fucking, fucking lag
I"ve not seen any of this so called lag on crushbone, but a guildie has (1 guildie) My guess is an issue with the client coding in relation to server communications, remember the lag caused by the Al'Kabor robe back in EoF? Did they fix that bug....yes they did. Will they fix this bug, 100% yes they will, maybe not as quick as some people would like but life is a bitch. Those that said they raid in wow with no lag etc etc, you think wow was always that lag free? It used to be 100times worse than this spotty lag in eq2, I mean we are talking for EVERYONE all 8 zillion of them.
Bottom line, it sucks for some, (not all) and it will get fixed with future update, when we dunno but it WILL.

It's existed since the release of Eq2 almost 4 years ago.
Tell me again why it WILL be fixed? They have expansions and LON to focus on, not fixing 4 year old issues

I've had lag in the past, KoS, raid zones in EoF, which has ALWAYS been fixed, end of story. LON completely different team unrelated to the development past or future, ie it is 2d game eq2 is 3d. In other words, you couldn't take someone from LON dev team and say here work on eq2, you are talking apples and oranges. If you have had 4 year old lag then you have bad ISP, or slow computer. Yea i'm sure there are issues that may be quite old that they haven't fixed but lag related....no, always fixed in past.

Re: This fucking, fucking lag
Actually, I can never remember SOE truly fixing lag unless it was after I quit. In EoF you had a ton of things that caused lag spikes, charms, delevels, buff strips, certain procs, none were totally fixed... they just were lessened.
Long after they "fixed" charms causing lag, I'd still use a tiny second long lag spike to see exactly when Gardener did his charm, and it never failed, both on Najena and Crushbone. It just went from being a giant 10 second spike into a minor thing, half-assed fix at best imo.
