Crystal clear?
First of all, this is not news, this was always the reason that was given.
Second of all, this all has nothing to do with this thread.

I like it. Adds a certain frisson to the gaming experience. Also means I can go make a cup of tea while the screen locks and come back to find what I've killed in the meantime.

There it is clear as crystal. Multi-core support is not a matter of can't but a matter of won't. As in you won't you fix the hacks but you will break my multi-core instead. GG

You are aware that code that isn't specifically designed for multi-threading that is somehow multi-threaded is a BAD idea and can cause major issues, right? You run into race conditions, and all sorts of other issues like people running too fast, and other issues that are out of your control, until you properly multi-thread your code. This is why they disabled the capability of the game running MT by the OS, because the code isn't in shape to do so without having issues.
So, stfu and learn about coding before you talk.

especially funny in a group, you see the tank running in front of you and you behind, suddenly a nice freeze and like 10 seconds later you see the tank warp into a bunch of mobs and die....
the weird thing is, the lag, lag spikes, lock ups, they are all completly random for me, I mean its not like it would be always when fighting mob x or in zone y.

Re: This fucking, fucking lag
I believe this is a server/infrastructure problem rather than a client problem. I don't believe it's a client issue or a network lag issue, but rather an issue of server load/performance. If it were a client issue then it should be easily reproducable but it's not. Some nights it performs well on a VP raid, and other nights it turns to shit and you start seeing 2-5 second button lag and queued CAs and spells that just never get cast. At the same time, your packet loss and network latency appear to be fine.
Changing the client to support multi-core computing IMO isn't the solution. SOE just needs to get off their ass, drop whatever else they are doing, and find the problem in their server infrastructure and design a solution before they start losing too many more of their already dwindled player base (once over 350,000, now down to ~80,000 IIRC).
This is a problem that seems to be getting worse and worse as time goes by, despite SOE trying to hotfix it out. Supposedly a patch back before LU44 was supposed to help with the lag but since then it seems to actually be worse than it was before.

Re: This fucking, fucking lag
I'm not sure anyone else noticed this, but yesterday, there was like 0 zero lag in Trak, PR, and SoH. It made for making the encounters much quicker, and the DPS in PR was somewhat humorous.
Of course, maybe the DPS all came from Brigandy's bow.
