Re: EoF in Review
The real issue is that it's not in aid of anything other than adding tedium. It's not like it's challenging to invis and autorun, turning your character every 30 seconds or so. It's just irritating.

Re: EoF in Review
Maybe the problem is too many greedy Druids. I've never charged to open a port. I saw someone complaining the other day that people have to pay over a plat to get a teleport. I've never heard of that and can't imagine anyone stupid enough to pay it. Something that easy to do shouldn't cost much, if anything.
Druids and Wizzies, it takes a few seconds to open a port. Either we all start doing it for people or the whiners get us nerfed. Using your new abitily as a taxi service is gonna fuck all of us.

Re: EoF in Review
OK... if you can get from FP to LP in 5 minutes without a port, please share your secret route. Because it takes me more than 5 min just to catch a ship and arrive in Butcherblock. And that's with zoning between TS and Nek and catching the first that comes.
As far as not getting any heal boosts. There are plenty. Just gotta know where to look for them. Did you want an AA that improves your heals by 15%? Or an AA that gives you an extra 10% heal crit chance? Or maybe an AA decreases your casting cost? Well, you can't have any of those things from EoF AAs, but you can certainly get them from EoF.
I was rather freaked out at first when i saw that NONE of my heals or wards were improving with AAs, but after a month, I can definitely see that I am a better healer, and can become even better after I get a few more items. The healing improvements are there, for all classes, just not really from AAs.

Yeah, my main is a templar...
Anyway, I think EoF is OK. Since there are a lot more places to go solo, it is easy to get on, work on a quest real quick and log. Since I am on Everfrost, I don't have to worry about the other 3 people on the server harvesting all of the shinies.
I enjoyed my god quest, but after having been through a lot of the zones, I am ready for something else now. I had no real problems with the other expansions. They aren't anything super impressive, but this one is not earthshattering, either. I do have to say that I am glad that the over land art is much better than KoS.
I think it is better, but if you were going to leave, it is not worth staying (or coming back) because there is nothing that new, really. (Well, except the god stuff, I think it is fun.)
Hmm, thinking about this kinda gave me a request:
I'd like the gods to fight occasionally (it could even be an event if you don't want to do it all of the time) where they call their faithful into a PvP zone where you battle each other to gain favor for your dieties. The sides of the battle would be completely based on your diety, not your alignment, so Brell and Ro's followers could make things interesting.
If someone already mentioned that, I apologize, I just get excited sometimes. Now, we return you to your regularly apathetic templar.

All anyone needs to do is ask and I'll port them where ever. I'm not going to run to you but I will take a second and pop it open.
I am in no way a wealthy player. I don't need money so badly as to take it for simply clicking the spell. I've used the spell enough myself to more than justify the quests to get them so I don't buy the argument that you are paying me back for my effort.
What's next? Charging for heals? Rez incoming...1 plat? Should I calculate what my buffs give in dps and charge a copper per point?

Re: EoF in Review
Ok, I have a challenge - what's the fastest time anyone can run from either EFP or QH to the Clockwork Menace in Klak'Anon. I think that is the longest of all runs in EoF.
With a port to Steamfont, that run can be done in two minutes.
Without a port, you have
-Zone from EFP to Nek
-Wait on boat - random time between 30 secs and 6 minutes
-Travel by boat and zone to Butcherblock
-Run from Butcherblock dock clear across zone to G Fay, and zone
-Run from G Fay zone all the way to Steamfont zone, and zone
-Run from Steamfont zone, PAST THE DRUID RING, to Klak'Anon Zone
That's a 15 minute run on average.
People, please stop exaggerating with the "it's only 5 minutes BS".
And this is far more of a hassle for Freeport people than for Qeynos people, as the only bank accessible by Freeport people in EoF is all the way out at the NURSERY in G Fay.
SoE needs to put in bells, NPCs, or whatever, and take the transportation monopoly away from the druids and wizards, much like they killed interdependence in crafting long ago. I don't want to have to rely upon a single class for a need like this or be greatly inconvenienced.

Re: EoF in Review
You could also go from Butcherblock to Lesser Fay, take the horse to LP. Then go to the SE corner of LP to Steamfront.
...but it is a pain in the ass

Re: EoF in Review
I must be a masochist then... cause I like the travelling.
Gives back a lot of the feel from EQ1 when we had to hoof it everywhere before druids and wizards discovered their abilities to port (and charge!!).
I still get horribly lost... but fortunately my friends give excellent directions/act as guides.

Re: EoF in Review
Everyone keeps forgetting that wizards have two "ports." A single target one that takes a reagent (probably why some may charge) and then a group one that takes the whole group. Its not like the druid one where it opens a portal and anyone with a leaf can walk through.

In Kunark, it will be "seperate but equal", where as in EoF, we have been left as the minority without even that. I just think this has all been unfair, and poorly considered.

a Buzzer went off in my head!
the outpost of Fironia Vie was conquered. FV was invaded by Dark elves, at least I think it was them.., anyway I remember the patch that moved all the quest NPCs to a new location.
unless it got liberated after I was gone? *shrug*
