I agree Ty, I would trade away the souls of my children for the ability to unlock the camera and move it around freely, or to be able to just lock it into place and then move my toons around independantly of it.

And fill in the blanks from there. That's the core of an extremely solid EQ2 gaming rig. I'm running on a 30" (2560x1600 native) and I can still run in Extreme quality most of the time and maintain fluidity (60fps+)... but with shadows and shit turned off on raids. If I was on a "normal" sized monitor and only had to render half the pixels/frame it'd be an absolute beast. =)
