well, IMHO it's a good move. AoC is soon and some people will leave eq2 again (I know AoC is shit, but anyway). And it's very hard to have 2 good guilds on 1 server these days, because most servers are underpopulated (or lack good players which is the same thing tbh). I know it sucks for people who were left behind and I know it because I was in the same situation. But stop fucking crying and get over it.
