Re: AoC: will it wipe out EQ2?
It'll depend whether the end-game sucks or not, tbh.

+1 to that. I'm seeing mostly pvp types moving to conan. Other than that, I think EQ2 may lose roleplayers (hard to say though cause I don't understand what makes them tick) and people who were already fed up with soe and close to quitting anyway.

Re: AoC: will it wipe out EQ2?
Yea agreed with most everyone, it will depend on the endgame.
If there is content to keep people interested then it will clearly rival (:cough: surpass :cough:) EQ2s current endgame. For right now the graphics are better, the early game seems like a typical mmo, the game play / controls are a bit of a change but not worse than EQ2.
There definitely seems to be more interest in this game than Vanguard, and I think its launching at a weaker time in Everquest 2 than VG did. Atleast as I remember there was still quite a lot of EOF that guilds were working on when VG came out. Where as ROK was for the most part received worse than EOF to begin with, and many people have seen all/most of the end game of the expansion already.

If RoK didn't suck so bad, less people would leave.
Too bad it did and still does today.

Re: AoC: will it wipe out EQ2?
I played Vanguard beta, it sucked a lot.
i played AoC beta, best beta of any game i've played.
it reminds me of the excitement I felt when I started EQ2 and in a lot of ways, AoC reminds me of all the fun good things about EQ2, and then it adds some other new elements.
Its not a polished as EQ2 is some areas, i still think EQ2 has some of the better tanking mechanics around, and the best "assist" system aswell. I like the Lore in AoC, feels very grity and true fantasy. Can't go wrong with Blood, Boobs and fatalities either. I still get giddy when I chop some guys head off and blood spurts everywhere.
It does require good hardware though.. although i still cant run EQ2 decently enough with everything turned on and i can turn almost everything on in AoC...
i dont think it will kill EQ2, I just think it will give people options for a while, if anything i think people will be canceling more wow accounts. i know I am... my EQ2 is still active, wow will be shut down.

Re: AoC: will it wipe out EQ2?
I will listen to our "scouts" some of us who will play EQ2 and AoC.
Should lag on Innovation server not drop significant soon and AoC becomes an viable alternative, we will discuss moving as an raid, trying to get as much game friends with us as possible.
RoK has not much to offer, and we are even only close to VP.
Lag and Venril Sathir is no fun!
Raidmobs are rather dull in comparision to EoF and Zone recycling is lame. What does mob do? Oh certainly it will stun or stifle you and has a blow-you-up script. *hoooray* *puke*
I would have more fun with T5 Epics beefed up for T8 regarding versatility.
AoC runs more smoothly on my PC than EQ2 on mediocre setting.
And I run quite some good machine...
Combat system with real blocking paths is quite more fun.
In the end, EQ becomes looking old compared to AoC...

By then I`m hoping there will be an expansion and lvl raised to 100. That the changes to the wizzie make them a greater char than they are ( you have to agree they are great), and that the AA is raised to 180. leaving a lot of catch up for those that left to come back too.
and to boot! their plat gets shared among the ppl left in their guilds that they left to join AOC.
And if they are leaders of a guild that left to play AOC then they should run naked around the zones for two months. and if female toon maybe 3 months.
All in All I don`t think AOC will take out eq2, I have a little faith that eq2 will continue to grow and all the issues we all have with the game will be fixed. (GULP!) soooooo many.
To those that leave for AOC see you soon.

What makes EQ2 the better game? Is it the combat mechanics that need serious revamping? Is it the diminishing return system that makes gear upgrades worthless? Is it those gay ass raid encounters that make folks faceplant on their desks due to borked mechanics, pathing and damage shields? Is it the developers that lie, cheat and show contempt for their customers?
Seriously, those who say AoC is a Vanguard simply have not played it. This game has and will continue to take subscriptions from EQ2 and WoW. Its not just the shiny graphics. The combat is fun. The classes are intresting. Sure it has 12 classes to EQ2's 24. So what. EQ2 really only has 12 if you look at the good/evil versions of classes and itemization suffers badly for it.
Say what you want but when EQ2 is a ghost town in 6 months you will play AoC too. Especially if SOE puts another RoK out.

This right here sums it all up really.
AoC and Warhammer...DOOOM DOOOM ZOMG the sky is falling... start calling for server mergers...
WoW Wraith of Lich King in the pipeline...Shit!!! EQ2 will be the next MxO!!!!
It will not kill EQ2. It will not cause instant server merges, it will not bring about the end of the world as we know it. People will go. Some will stay, some will come back to EQ2 (and then go back to bitching about how bad the game is but it's the only good enough one out there and that's why they are still here damn it!)
Now, as for AoC itself, I have yet to try it. I plan on it come payday though (this friday)
My only worry is everyone I talk to, the ONLY thing they fixate on is nipples...WHOOPDIE SHIT. If I wanted to see nipples I would either a) call my girlfriend over or b) look online at FREE porn sites
but to go Ga Ga over some computer drawn nipplege...wow..
