AoC: LOW settings
What part of that does not meet the min Specs? Not the best machine in the world, but hardly a 386.
The fact that I run EQ2 on med settings getting anywhere from 20-40 fps seems to mean to me that AoC is heavily dependant on multiple cores. When there is only 1, it seems to struggle. Im ok with that - was just telling people of my experience. If you want to flame away, then do so: Water\Ducks Back.

I doubt the game relies heavily on multiple cores. Rather, a multiple core processor is generally faster than a single core processor. I upgraded in oct 2007 from an AMD 3000+ (similar to a 3.0ghz intel) to a 2.66ghz intel core 2 duo E6750 and noticed a dramatic upgrade in performance. It had nothing to do with my software utilizing the dual cores as it did that the processor was just better.
Sounds like you are on a laptop, so you probably have a slower hard drive (hence the slow install), slower memory, and slower processor than compared to a desktop. Probably the only thing saving you in EQ2 is your graphics card.
Either way, it sucks that you dished out for AoC and couldn't even really play it =(
