SOE is killing EQ2,not AoC or any other new MMO.

AoC is way way way too linear. That's my biggest problem. Do this, then that, etc etc etc, and that's about the only way to play. Grind? HAH..that XP blows ass.

The world may SEEM open, but caravaning and boating between everywhere gets gay fast. Something Vanguard did wonderfully was make you feel like you truly were in a large world. AoC just seems like a few villas and 5 - 10 large cities connected by subways.

Oh, and the newbie level quests that just make you run really fucking long distances are extremely gay. So is the quest journal that caps at what, 10?

There are quite a few places in the world where the textures aren't even applied. That's just pathetic, honestly.

There are a lot of things to like about this game, don't get me wrong, but revolutionary? Not even close. Its just Oblivion the MMO with naked people and profanity.

What I really hate is that you get stuck so often and can't jump over the tiniest barriers. Make sure you put max points into climbing, that helps a little bit.....

Best thing SoE could do I think is merge servers ASAP. The deserted lower tier zones is what kills this game for many players, old as new.

More incentives could also be implemented for people to level alts. Make leveling a little bit faster, by faster vitality regen? Make the first 70 AA levels or so significantly faster? Do something about the transmute system so people once again can buy adept 1's and treasured gear cheaply?

And please, dont give me the that crap about leveling beeing too easy already, because YOU got from 1 to 80 in 2 weeks. Not everyone can play 16h/day, buy collections for 100 plats, get powerleveled, or what else helps one achieve that.

EDIT: And in the end, this would help the highend game too. Some might find their enjoyment of the game revitalized if they got that new toon to 80, instead of getting stuck and quitting them in the 40's/50's.

AOC won't destroy EQ2..

Been playing Conan a bit now, and definitely has it's share of issues as well.

In answer to the OP, no, not even remotely.

It won't kill EQ2. No game will (right away at it's launch) becuase of the Vanguard fiasco for one thing.

Most won't trust a brand new game now.

Many, self included, are reluctant to dump the many hours and efforts on our eq2 characters. (though I'm not playing much nowdays, just not ready to can it.

Many have not cleared current eq2 game. Though it is not at all surprising for top guilds to be bored to tears from farming vp for 5 months strait and migrate to AoC.

I would be for server mergers, as my guild has had trouble with the low pool of raiders looking for guild to choose from before AoC.

I have no problem with the fast XP to level alts, who wants to slowly level to 80 2, 3, 4 times when they are relying on that toon to raid asap? Though I do not enjoy fast power grinding myself, I've got 3 at 80 and one at 72, a few little ones, and I just don't feel like making any new alts and putting work into them so that they too can be deemed not needed for raiding by the time they are 80.

IMO Babies can get by fine without adept 1s, I once made a baby and had my jeweler make all the app 4s up to 20, I was surprised at how easy things were at that level with app 4s and treasured crafted jewelry.

This should really be posted on the SoE forums, I know many who hang out here won't touch the censored forums, but the devs don't come here anymore, we're pretty much preeching to the choir and throwing useless opinions of changes needed in game to each other.

AoC might have cosmetic issues and small things that might annoy someone... but is the game performance and combat system working? yes. those 2 things are huge and if those work off the bat correctly everything else will be easy for them to fix over time.

You're stupid.
If you merge Splitpaw and Runnyeye (both fairly populated) you still have pretty empty lowbie zones. But you also get even more lag in raid instances cause there'll be even more raid guilds causing lag.

Maybe AoC will cause half the raid guilds to die, then a merge would be an option. Right now? No, thanks.

Again: Don't be fucking stupid.
Even if you're uber casual you can hit t8 in a reasonable amount of time.
My last alt went from 1 to 70 in 4 days /played. (Or was it 3?). And no, I didn't spend any plat either.
Going from lvl 70 to 80 took me longer (due to more questing, boring faction grind for the epic and general slacking) than 1 to 70.

4 days /played isn't much even for Joe Casual. You could prolly do it in less than 10 days by just soloing. That's a lot less than it used to be.

Who can't afford adp1's and treasured gear? Hell, even mc gear is cheap.

You mean new players? Ah, here's news for you:
The reason EQ2 isn't getting any new players is NOT its current economy or xp rate. The reason is that the game gets NO marketing at all, the game wasn't uber popular to begin with and it's bloody 4 years old.

Obviously you don't need to play 16 hours a day if you can hit t8 with like 4 days /played time.
1 or 2 years ago 15 days was considered quick. Now it's 5 days, lol.

I doubt that.
Most people have a bunch of alts that are lvl 70 to 80 and have seen EVERY bit of casual content there is over and over again. Most people cant be arsed to roll new alts to see Runnyeye, Fallen Gate and stuff AGAIN. I loved those instances but after running countless alts through em....
Sure, it's fun once in a while but after 4 years we've just seen it all.

The game's dying cause it's old (hence nobody wants to experience the old content over and over again) and cause the endgame sucks (so hardly anybody wants to progress there either).
