Re: AoC: will it wipe out EQ2?
Having played beta I didn't even bother to buy AoC. IMHO I think the game sucked. The color of the game reminded me of wow. The scout classes ( I love my scouts ) suck, even beta buffed the classes still blow. The game itself is choppy and if you think its my computer I promise you its not. AoC IMO will be another vanguard, mass flow of people go to play it and after a few months of the game not getting any better or problems getting resolved and people getting bored with the classes people will once again return to EQ2 and the little kids to WoW. Another thing that sucks about AoC is the questiiong, the quests are easy solo and they are not that hard to figure out, no puzzles or mind boggling ( sitting there skratching head ,,,, what the fuck comes next.
Anyways, I am still in EQ2 and probably will be untill i see the next major expansion land. And what the hell is this shit saying that RoK is HARD to grind through and how the quests are just solo ???? I have 4 level 80 toons and my main was 80 a week after RoK launched.. now the 50-60 ranger SUCKED.

Re: AoC: will it wipe out EQ2?
yeah, during EoF I had a 70 fury, 70 assassin, 70 berserker. Now I have a 80 fury, 75 assassin, 72 berserker, I can't make myself finish lvling the other toons cause I can't do all those solo quests again.

It's called real time fucking combat, honestly what did you expect to press one button to cure everything like eq2?

Re: AoC: will it wipe out EQ2?
Apparently some people want more simplified combat that allows them to AFK while raiding, jerking off to asian tentacle porn

There is a distinct difference between hard, and boring.
Rok is boring, that's why people can't stomach it, because it just makes them feel retarded.
How would you feel if you had your hand held everywhere you went?

B) AOC is.
C) I would rather go out and buy a new computer to play AOC "Flawlessly" then go out and buy a new computer and still be stuck in claymation mode on eq2 during raids.

If you have a computer that runs AOC flawlessly, you have one that runs EQ2 perfectly. For about $1k in parts you can build a box that runs EQ2 on absolute max settings in solo, group, and raid setups. In fact, my box runs the game so well that I thought "hell, I'll just leave particles on during raids! yay!"... until the particles got in the way of the action and I turned em off anyway. ;)
If you're still running EQ2 in claymation mode today you're doing something wrong. You either have extremely old hardware and aren't willing to pony up about a grand for a serious box upgrade, or you're straight retarded and can't configure a system/game for shit.

Beta is not release. As with most games, even the final version of closed beta wasn't nearly as polished as the initial live version. The final release plays smooooth for the majority of players, even without top end machines.
Saying AoC will be another VG shows a ridiculous lack of understanding of MMOs in general and VG in particular. AoC ALREADY has 20 times the population that vanguard ever had, as well as 95% GOOD word-of-mouth. There was NOBODY who had anything good to say about VG at release.
And simply because quests don't require you to immediately run to a spoiler site because it gives no hints as to how to complete it does NOT mean they're "too easy."
Comparing anything in AoC to WoW visually... just wow... doesn't even deserve a response...

Re: AoC: will it wipe out EQ2?
Threads like this are fucking stupid. And people that insist on starting them every time a new MMO is released are also stupid.
- When has an MMO ever "wiped out" another MMO? Last time I checked all MMO's I've ever seen are still up and running. The only one I've ever heard of being shut down was AC2, and that was for other reasons.
- Do you think that even if AoC was a good game (And it isn't, we've beta'd it), that everyone in EQ2 would rush out and buy a new computer to run it? Not everyone can afford upgrades like that, so you have a solid base of people that *are not going anywhere* regardless.
Every fucking MMO that's released gets this exact same thread, and the exact same thing happens in the long run.
Nothing.
