Its a fun alternative to EQ2, although, Tortage has made me hesitant to roll any new alts.

I agree, I tried AoC, and besides the Combat system I didn't find anything special about it at all. Now I'm not just saying this because I freaking love EQ2, I just don't think it was that well done.

Plus after the starting area (Tortage) ,which is from levels 1-20 ,the quality goes down quite a bit. I will admit the combat system is really, really awesome, but that's about it.

Rather play EQ2, never said it was thriving. but it's definitely not dying in my opinion.

EQ2 isn't fun. I log in, I can't leave QH because I can't think of a single thing I'd enjoy doing in the game.

I think mentoring up could be huge for eq2, combined with combat xp increases. The key is to get more players actually playing together; ideally you want nobody to legitimately have an excuse that they can't find a group. Right now I run through lower tier zones and I see solo players AFK'ing in the middle of nowhere; most of them seem like they slow to a halt from the boredom of playing alone.

I have a question about the mentoring up idea Illuminator had suggested.

I know that City of Heroes/Villains had this concept to a degree, but having never played either not sure how it exactly worked.

I could see it working ok for just grinding on some mobs, but how would it affect quests? If you did a quest say in KP would you be able to do the quest again at the proper lvl?

Blood and tits are the reason you're allowed to curse as much as you desire (M-rating) -- that gets me "stoked".

Tortage blows, AoC is 100x better after lvl 20.

When doing an apprenticeship like in AoC, all group members get a small amount of xp. The lower the apprenticeship from the highest party member, the lower the amount of xp everyone will receive, if I recall correctly. I am a lvl 22 ToS in AoC, grouped with a lvl 29 PoM, 25 Barb and 31 Ass. My lvl was 1 lvl below the Barb in the apprenticeship and everyone in the group got about 1xp per kill. Of course with the completion of a quest, more xp was received. You cannot do the quest over when at the appropriate lvl cause you have already completed the quest and you cannot receive a quest that you are too low for.

Aoc is ok cause it is new and different, but not sure about the longjevity atm, for me that is. Still trying to figure out what I am striving for besides lvls cause the loot there sucks donkey balls.
