You say too little too late, but I don't think so. AoC got a lot of bad feedback and I heard a lot of people didn't get what they were expecting. If SOE plays their cards right, they may get a huge spike in playerbase.

Actually I feel I can have a great opinion of this, as 3 months ago I was a returning player to eq2, played a few months at launch then not for like 2+ years. I came back and you know what I found?
Zone filled with group orientated heroic mobs, and zone that were wastelands (in terms of people) the only zones that had any population to speak of were city or RoK zones. I can tell you now that SoEs attempt to grab new or returning players will fail miserably for one reason the refuse to update old world content to the current population levels. For some reason they think that a few odd alts running around consist of a playerbase for the new players to join, and sure to an extent it is ...... for 15 minutes until half of group says "well have to go help raid on my bye guys".
I've returned and canceled again in the last 3 months, I will put my money down most would do the same if even at all.
Currently I went back to CoX, its a nice little void filler without too much if any commitment involved. cmon warhammer... any time now ... sigh
