GJ $OE! Begging ppl to come back, and screwing paying customers. Nothing ever changed.

lol, how am I delusional? I applaud the push from SOE and hope that they keep doing it. I plan on trying AoC, but a guidly of mine says he has it and he isn't that impressed. Like most MMOs, it will probably get better with time and I am waiting to see what kind of changes occur before I devote my time to it.

Screwing existing customers? I don't really care about the fluff that they are adding to entice new players. However, I do see how people would get pissed over it and I expect SOE to do something for the existing customers in return.

My reaction to the upcoming events hasn't been as negative so most. What I saw was some small tweaks to the current content which would def be worth exploring (Re) the live events might have potential and we at least know we have an expansion in the works. For a casual player I think it's enough to sustain interest in the game. It's certainly better than nothing at all.

Two events about the shadow invasion, one about a murder mystery (I wonder who dies?) and another titled 'Evolution of Everquest event'. I wonder what that last one is about? I am really excited about this summer and all of the live events going on.

You say too little too late, but I don't think so. AoC got a lot of bad feedback and I heard a lot of people didn't get what they were expecting. If SOE plays their cards right, they may get a huge spike in playerbase.
Actually I feel I can have a great opinion of this, as 3 months ago I was a returning player to eq2, played a few months at launch then not for like 2+ years. I came back and you know what I found?

Zone filled with group orientated heroic mobs, and zone that were wastelands (in terms of people) the only zones that had any population to speak of were city or RoK zones. I can tell you now that SoEs attempt to grab new or returning players will fail miserably for one reason the refuse to update old world content to the current population levels. For some reason they think that a few odd alts running around consist of a playerbase for the new players to join, and sure to an extent it is ...... for 15 minutes until half of group says "well have to go help raid on my bye guys".

I've returned and canceled again in the last 3 months, I will put my money down most would do the same if even at all.

Currently I went back to CoX, its a nice little void filler without too much if any commitment involved. cmon warhammer... any time now ... sigh

Really, I find the lower level content still alive. Granted, you will find more players in BBM than TS or Nek, but that is to be expected. I agree that they should revamp the old world quest rewards and loot tables and such, but I don't expect that to happen before the next expansion. It would be a good investment to do so.
