I'm still trying to figure out how our community shrank so small that Bigron and Sepentius would cross swords. They weren't expected to meet for another five years.

If you can't scribe, if you haven't cleared it with the group that you need special loot rules for yourself (hell, I paid 3p per group mate the other day for a drop I needed for a secondary toon to cover loot rights on a no trade item because it was the right thing to do), and you hit need, you are in the wrong, and yes, do deserve to be blacklisted.

Buy it from whomever wins it if you need it. Get a loan from your guild. But if you can't use it on the toon you're on, and you haven't spoken and gotten approval from the rest of the group, yes, you are being a jerk, and however highly you think of yourself doesn't actually matter.

Sorry.

I'd like to hear from the guy who was set on joining. If he was seriously planning on joining then I see nothing wrong with taking the master.

A very similar situation happened over the weekend with my guild, it was 5 guildies and 1 pickup. My wife was in the group, but I was not. A really nice fury master dropped that was a huge upgrade to me, but because of the 1 pickup they had to roll greed. One of my guildies won it, so it all worked out in the end. And even though the guildie said I didn't owe them anything I still gave them 30p because they could've gotten 200p off the broker for it.

Just to be clear, the other 4 in the group, all guildies of sepentius, were all supposedly pissed as well. Sep wrote them off as being greedy "adept 1" players. So pretty much everyone in the group, including his guild mates, were mad that he hit need. That's what was said in channels, and he didn't deny that.

What puzzles me is why there are people that back him up (in channels, not here). So not only does he think its ok, there's others, not all of them his cronies, that think its ok to rip off your group.

My [first] two pence >> that this fabled 'THE community' you refer to is a conglomoration of nobodies >>> like 'ME'... and lots of other nobody people that it clearly gives you pleasure to posture towards.
[I wonder why?! ]

I don't raid on EQ2 (but I did do that on Eq1, back in the days when I had time to do so) However, despite all of the retrospective justification going on here, it seems to me that if it was a predominantly guild-oriented group, with a prospective member showing up, the loot rules could easily have been established in advance as guild-oriented, without having established this particular [peculiar?] caveat in advance, you and your friends would have still had a 66.67% chance of securing loot for 'the guild' fairly... and nobody would have had any cause to talk about this...

...the fact that 'we' are, means YOU didn't and therefore the fact is that you are [in the parlance of this particualr site] a greedy opportunist twat, that abused the Need or Greed system because it suited you to do so...

Anyways, I've read all of the posts in this thread and feel fairly comfortable that the fabled 'THE community' is not about to reassess the accepted precepts of the Need or Greed system (when in use)... i.e. relying at any time on the reasonably ETHICAL behaviour of the majority...

...welcome to the minority, moron

Meh, but if you're in an all guild group which depending on this 6th man was or was not masters should go to the guild and not sold on the broker, but if its a pu group then its open season.
