The best way to tank is to make sure the scouts, mages, and healers are happy!

Three fundamentals of tanking.

1. Survivability
2. Aggro
3. Positioning

Balance your gear for each situation to maximize aggro/dps while maintaining good survivability. Wearing t5 gear so your raid can do 150k dps doesn't help if you die.

Positioning to me is going to be the hardest thing for a new tank to learn. Learning the aggro ranges and box sizes and pivot points for all different mobs and what it is going to take to move them properly. Which have kb and plan a good backdrop accordingly. And turn the fucking mob.

This topic has deteriorated to serious advice. Very disappointing.

This is the correct answer.

1. Aggro pure and simple, if the mobs not on you its eating the raid, be it through dps or taunts.

2. Mitigation and Avoidance, get gear that gives you an acceptable level of both.

3. Communication between tanks and healers and within tanks (MT and OT comm)

1. Be vocal. If the raid doesn't know what you're planing to do you're screwed. It's not like the other 23 people are being boxed by Jojo's Psychic Alliance.

2. Learn where the mob needs to go. If it has a kickback, frontal, etc. you need to be the one taking it.

3. Learn how your class handles agro. Some are MUCH different than the other.

It's a risk we had to take, but I think we can still recover. =|

QUICK, someone post your favorite "Tower of Wizard" screenshots! Bonus points if it captures the main tank typing something funny/angry/silly in guildchat instead of trying to hold aggro!
