I doubt many SoE resources were used. Like LoN, it's developed by a completely different company.

The only thing that's fishy is the project obviously cost them money to outsource. There has to be a catch.

Which can on some systems create client-side lag!

Thereby proving the point of it has a slight possibility in some circumstances to create more lag. People saying otherwise are ignorant.

More memory usage on a machine already running out of memory = more client-side lag.

Just one more way for them to moderate people. Venrtilo is far superior to anything SoE could impliment for sevaral reasons:

To be in Ventrilo while not in game at all! Ever wanna log into vent to see who's around before logging in? Maybe I wanna play another game and still be in vent and reachable in case I'm needed? Maybe I had to camp out of a raid zone for someone else, but I'm staying in vent to hear the call to come back. Maybe I'm swapping characters or accounts and I can still stay in vent to listen!

Plus ventrilo uses awesome codecs, has excellent functions, and wil ventrilo 3.0 it is just about perfect in terms of quality and configuration. It's worth the 15 bucks a month.

I doubt they designed/implemented it to replace ventilo for raid guilds. More for pick up raids/groups.

They're going to be adding the Voice capability to the Station Launcher sometime in the near future so you won't have to login to the game beforehand.
